I find it odd in the article they relate Archdale to being close to Greensboro as opposed to saying its near high point Thomasville or Asheboro. Gboro is on the north side of Guilford and Archdale is by and large north Randolph.

I realize High Point Thomasville, or Asheboro aren't as big as Gboro but to me this is like relating Cary to Durham instead of Raleigh.

Just an observation.

I-40 runs with I-85 there. I-85 runs north/south.

It seems to me that if the cops were threatened, we would have heard them yelling or something, or he would have been shot as soon as he got out of the car. I still think something fishy happened there.

Sounds like bad shots, and excessive on the cops end. I was taught in concealed carry handgun class that you don't shoot to maim, you shoot to kill if you feel threatened. I can't imagine that the cops are taught differently. Either way, I don't quite think the kid should have been shot. This does sound like a sad situation for the family, and I hate it for them to have to go through all that.

I must have missed the part in the story where the kid was maimed. He shot 4 times at central mass and killed the kid.

Arm, leg, and stomach are 'maim' areas. (Example: If you shoot a robber in your house in the knee, and he lives to get out of your house, you can be sued for maiming him for a lifetime.)

Shooting a person =/= shooting at a paper target. People move when hit, your adrenaline is through the roof, its hard to place accurate shots. Bullets also do funny things inside the body; just because you get shot in the heart doesn't mean you are going to die right there (see the FBI-Miami shootout).
