Do not all of the judges get input on the winner each week? Sure Michael's dish may have been more advanced technically but difficulty and originality only make up part of the score. I think the judge's reaction to Michael's dish was more to oddity and not to the overall flavor. Kevin deserved the win. His dish looked awesome.

If they got rid of robin then who would announce how much time is left in each challenge.

yea, i dont mind brian, but michael's arrogance and control freak attitude as well as jen's supreme lack of confidence are really starting to grate.

^^yea, collichio complained a little about the execution of mike v's polenta. the producers didnt show any complaints about kevin's dish.

*note small text at end of each episode stating that eliminations are made with input from judges AND producers. so the fact that robin hasn't been kicked off yet probably isn't luck on her part.

Sure, but now that Mike I. is gone, who's going to say, "C'mon guys, let's go to the M Resort!" when they need product placement?

I hate the fact that Mike V. can't even finish in the top 2 without being petty. The editors are making him out to be a real pompous ass, whether or not he is. He shows no humility. Robin's annoying, but not nearly as annoying as whatever whatever Mikey I. Peace Mikey.

so every judge said eli's dish was horrible with no redeeming qualities

and robin goes home

mething producers need to do a better job editing, they are looking bad this season...

Srsly. I mean, I think Eli has a hell of a lot more talent than Robin and perhaps he is more deserving to be there--but his dish got completely panned and he didn't go? Weird.

they could have milked robin for another episode. Eli was not top 4 material, anyway, so seeing him go now wouldn't have been a problem. He will obviously go next.

jen, kevin, volts are top 4. kevin wins it

no. they had to get rid of robin now while they had the chance. if she makes it through and then does well next week, then she's in the final 4. why didn't they give Eli (since he won the quickfire) the ability to switch hotels with anyone else.

the guy with the beard is badass

the blond chick needs to be gone next, I really don't understand how they've kept her this long.

however, I'm really glad they finally axed the old lady, she was worthless

Jen was definitely top 4 material at the start of the show, but she's been falling apart and Eli has been stepping up his game to take her place (that horrible-looking soup shit excepted--what the hell was he even thinking to put that in front of the judges?) I like Jen's style better though, so I'd rather see her redeem herself and pull out of her funk.

Either way, it's not going to matter. Shaping up to be Kevin versus the brothers in the final 3. Kevin's always been super-consistent and he's just so likable, I see him coming out on top unless Michael V. gambles on something amazing and it turns out perfect.

I think that Kevin is great and of all the chefs I think he really is the best. I am a little surprised, though, that they gave him the win last night after they said what he made wasn't as technical as the challenge warranted (since that appeared to be the entire point).

However, he did defend his dish and it was the only one that came out perfectly across the board.

^ I think they just couldn't overlook the cooking issues with the other dishes. A perfectly done simple dish is better than a beautiful technically brilliant dish that isn't cooked correctly.

I really want kevin to win, but would be happy with bryan winning as well. michael is just a little too arrogant and jenn is just too inconsistent, I don't know how she's going to do with more pressure. although it looks like the finals take place at a much later time (based on changing hair styles) so maybe she's got her shit back together by then.

Eric Ripert girl from Philly goes home in an elimination challenge that could have realistically seen any of the remaining four win or lose. I'm still hoping for a redbeard guy victory.

IMO Micheal should have gone home. Jenn deserved to be there

These judges were just reaching for bullshit to comment on. It was actually very disappointing to watch. Padma doesn't know shit about food btw.

They needed both brothers in the final for ratings....and whether they admit it or not, they always pick who goes home based on their history and not just the one dish.

I'd like to see Kevin win. The most likeable of the 3, and everything I've seen him cook looks delicious, plus he's got just a bit of the southern angle going. He did get lucky though; badly-cooked and stringy brisket would have definitely been a reason to send him packing.

Realistically I think he's the underdog of the final 3 though. Brian is probably the strongest all-around, and Mike is the most creative and the most "technical". Kevin has a gift for flavors and an admirably clean, simpler style, but I think that style could be a slight handicap in the final.

"Ok, I have to ask this on behalf of our readers because they constantly commented on it. Your pronunciation of 'ceviche'. Why do you pronounce it 'se-veech?'
Well, listen, the master of fish, Eric Ripert, says 'se-veech' all the time. If people want to comment that I’m saying it wrong, they can complain to him. At Le Bernadin, we have a lot of saying for things that are maybe not the right pronunciation or word because there are a lot of different cultures working in the kitchen. You just end up saying things that are funny. Like we don't say "julienne those carrots," it's "Giuliani those carrots!" So I say 'seveech.' If it tastes good, who cares what the hell I call it?"

spoilers

to me it seemed they set up the whole upset to make mike v more humble, which was odd at first but I guess they didn't want the outrageous prick that he was in every other episode to be highlighted since they pronounced him the winner. I thought bryan should've won... kevin self-destructed and mike v was hit or miss

My sister ate at Kevin's restaurant in Atlanta (Woodfire Grill) last Saturday. Said the food kicked ass (not surprising) and she's now a fan of antelope meat. Oh, and she got to meet Kevin, plus Eli and Jenn (who happen to be visiting the restaurant).

Kevin kind of did himself in--after being so strong throughout, he screwed up his protein two weeks in a row. Bad time to have a bad day(s).

Either brother could have won it--I'm honestly not quite sure why it went to Mike though. The judges said that Brian's entree course (the venison) was the best dish of the night, and he also had the best dessert. His first two courses were a little safe and underseasoned though. Michael had the best "mystery box" course, but was second best in the other three dishes. I suppose mathematically he wins?

^True though--any of the 3 finalists would have been a good choice.
