Really? That would explain why the oil looks so dirty all the time... I always thought, "damn, something must be wrong if my oil looks this crappy... oh well..."10/9/2009 3:44:19 PM |

Just had the car inspected at Quality Inspection Center on Chatham st. in Cary. Had to argue with Carlos for several minutes about how I didn't have to have the emissions inspection because the county I'm registered in (Montgomery) doesn't require it. The lady in front of me paid $72 for an inspection and wiper blades . Thats $42 for the blades and installation.

Well, then, lemme stick it in your doo doo hole, you goddamn cockchugger.
There are a few guys in the Garage who know more than a whole shit ton of garden variety shop techs. And even some master techs.10/10/2009 2:05:18 AM |

I'm going to have to agree with the logic of avoiding chain shops by and large.
I went by Jiffy Lube for inspection twice now, once the guy stalled my 911 5 times (seriously, no joke), then spun the tires on the last try. Last week when I took my M3 in, he was asking me about it's top speed, followed by the recommendation to "remove the chip" to raise it.
Order your tires online, have them shipped to a local tire shop to have them mounted. Independents will give you decent deals on a lot of stuff, just find one you like and stick with them. I've been involved with many, many shops, and it's rare to find one anywhere that shady stuff doesn't happen, on the other hand chains almost always have under qualified staff working on them. I've seen several cars fall of lifts, customer cars abused, pick your poison. 10/10/2009 2:44:50 AM |

You just nailed the big one on the head with chain shops. UNDERQUALIFIED STAFF. 10/10/2009 2:46:36 AM |

those new blades that are "lifetime rubber" and gont have any metal on them are not the cheapest. there are not metal parts to wear out so they last a lot longer.10/10/2009 12:15:17 PM |

My dad was telling me last weekend that he doesn't know where to take his truck for service now. For 14 years the only place that touched it was Farris Motors in Rocky Mount; the dealer he bought it from. A while back the radiator clogged and blew. When he took it to them they told him that it was because someone put the wrong coolant in there and it rusted up. They refused to take any responsibility even though they are the only people who have ever touched the damn thing.

Has anyone ever been to/heard anything about C and C on Western? I think it’s where the Midas used to be. 3/23/2010 8:52:55 PM |

He didn't drive it any more than anyone else would have. It doesn't take long when a cooling system gets clogged on a hot summer's day in NC. As soon as he saw it overheating he shut it off, walked home, and had it towed in. No blown head gasket or warped heads; so you know it didn't truly overheat.3/23/2010 9:55:23 PM |
