And that's another problem.
Guy on the news said to expect traffic delays out there today. NC state game, bottle collectors convention, responsible dog owners convention, CALS reunion, and southern ideal home show.. all of those things happening at the fairgrounds today

"Jim: Paul, am I the only one that's not at all impressed with N.C. State? With wins over Plum and Hempfield should be really be at all concerned about Saturday?

Paul Zeise: Count me with the unimpressed. I've said it all week, Pitt is better and Pitt should win this game. And if they don't, I think it says something about the program in year 5. These are the games you have to win, even on the road. I think all signs point to the fact that Wannstedt has this thing rolling the right way -- they are 13-4 in their last 17 games, they've won like seven of eight road games -- so there is no reason to believe they will handle their business. But if they don't, well, let's just say it would be a bad loss. It won't be easy because the Wolfpack are well coached and recruit many of the same kinds of athletes that Pitt does, but the Panthers, player for player and depth-wise are a better team. Just go win the game."

Quote :
"theWellHungarian: I watched NC State's first game of the year against South Carolina and they stink ... Pitt should handle them easily, no?

Paul Zeise: I don't know about easily, but yes, Pitt should win this game. Like I said, Pitt is better than N.C. State."

I tried my best to make 17 loud. The Pitt fans were adequately disgusted next to us. After the win, the section started chanting "A-C-C" for almost no apparent reason.

I was sitting in section 323 and the young folks and old fogies were restless the whole game. We were all yelling every down pitt had the ball. I think I remember counting 3 false starts that the CF crowd caused.

What was it that the Pitt announcer saying about CF not being a tough place to play??

anybody else email Zeise and get an angry ass response? lol peep this shit...i dont think my first email to him is anything particularly bad, but apparently some other state fans PISSED HIM OFF haha

me:

Quote :
"Nice prediction...Russell Wilson is a little better football player than you might have previously thought, no? I don't need to say any more, the Wolfpack win is sweeter than any witty replies I could come up with. Have a good one.

ps: I hope Pitt has a great season to help our strength of schedule. South Carolina already showed that they were a pretty good team when they beat a top-5 Ole Miss team. Although they shouldn't have been ranked that high to begin with."

him:

Quote :
"Oh wow, you really hurt my feelings.

Why would I give a rat's ass who won or lost this game? All I do is write about the team.

And if you are happy about your team after that piece of shit game, then you are desperate.

You N.C. State fans in the hour since this game finished have proven yourselves to be less classy and more delusional than Rutgers fans.

And that is saying a lot.

Regards,

Paul"

me:

Quote :
"Classy email, I appreciate the cussing, you sure are a classy journalist.

And way to lump my email in with the lunatic fringe minority. I'm sorry you have anger management issues. Good luck with that."

him:

Quote :
"Well it takes a big man to wait until AFTER the game to try and come and talk smack to someone who doesn't care one bit who wins and loses.

I made a prediction, it was wrong, I'm sure it wasn't the first time or last time I'll be wrong -- But a bigger question is this -- do you really feel good about your team after watching that game?
"

me:

Quote :
"I haven't felt great about my team since losing to South Carolina, but you win and move on. All I care about is beating UNC and seeing the program slowly improve under O'Brien.

And since you made a prediction and were wrong, you have to expect to eat some crow. Sorry you got a bad vibe about State fans, I can guarantee that we are not all bad.

Have a good one."

him:

Quote :
"Let me ask you a question - what is it that you think we do here?

Every week I am asked to make a prediction and every week I do and have for ten years of covering this team and guess what, sometimes I am right and sometimes I am wrong -- if I was always right, and I have written this, I'd be in Vegas making millions.

But I'm not a fan talking trash -- I try to make an educated guess each week and just hope the game gets over in time for me to get my story in on time.

That's it -- nothing more, nothing less.

But the ridiculous e-mails I've gotten from NC State fans, including ones calling me obscene names and whatnot, are just that.

Anyone that knows me knows that if you take the time to e-mail me, I'll reply but I don't take too kindly to being dragged into these message board insult wars between fans because I'm not one.

Hell, I went to Temple and we lose every week!

Regards,

Paul"

me:

Quote :
"Paul

All I know is I read some links to predictions of yours. I'm ignorant to anything else. I didn't know if you were a Pitt fan/alum, or what. I'm not even mad about you predicting a Pitt win, but I for one thought it would be a single digit win that wasn't determined until late in the game. There is a reason the line was only NCSU -1.

Also maybe I have a skewed perspective about newpaper sports writers. My local rag of a paper The Charlotte Observer is full of biased UNC grads. I don't mean to lump you in that group without knowing anything about you, but again, not all State fans are "email assholes""

him:

Quote :
"No. I'm a temple graduate who happens to cover Pitt for the Post-Gazette.

And a Temple graduate and Pitt reporter, I can assure you I am an expert on bad football and what we saw today was bad football.

I actually MET a lot of nice people today in the stands, but the neandrathals who have e-mailed me have me scratching my head as to just what the heck is going on down here!

Thanks for reading the Post-Gazette"

i think he got some previous emails that were a lot less...well thought out and he projected some frustration on me

and i'll give him credit in another sense for replying to my email, and my followups...lots of media cats might mention a noteworthy email in an article, but often won't bother to respond, even if your email is fairly respectful

anyway i thought his first reponse was funny as shit

yeah, that's the impression i got, he seemed super defensive right out the gate. you handled it with class and i wish more of our fans would do the same. there will continue to be a gross media bias against us if asshats feel the need to continually send ignorant ass hate mail to writers. good job setting the example TreeTwista10, it's good proof that we're not all idiots, hopefully more people will take more time and thought into it when we do have to call out a journalist for playing to the crowd instead of offering a factual analysis.

that dude can act all cool and reserved and disinterested, but if you read a few of his chat transcripts, he was anything but that. He said RW didn't impress him. As a sports journalist, he said he based this simply off the SC game, which shows how lazy he is. The last 5 games of last year ought to have any DefCoord in the country having sleepless nights. If you shutdown every receiver that goes out, and RW just happens not to see the wide open RB in the flat, he can bust out 20yrd runs and may even score from anywhere on the field. Since he's a nonbeliever he's not required to go to RusselObrien church, but that's just lazy, uninspired journalism to say that RW doesn't impress him. Makes it all the more sweeter to know that it was RW who beat Pitt.

I love how he says that was bad football game because Pitt lost. From a defensive and special teams perspective for us it wasn't perfect but the offense played great. I still am excited about this team and this season.

Charles Arbuckle said on the ESPNU broadcast said outside of VA Tech and Clemson that Carter-Finley is loud and has a great gameday vibe.

If he was sitting in the press box like 99 percent of media does, you can't hear A THING in there. So, one of two things happened: 1. He's claiming the crowd didn't affect the game, when in fact, he has no idea because it's basically sound proof in the press box. OR 2. He didn't sit in the press box, which is doubtful because of the rain, and slightly unprofessional.

between the wave and that "move the chains, move the chains woof woof woof" I want bang my head on a wall. That and the fact that the older farts sit on their hands all game and there's nowhere near the excitement of the student section. Sit down most of the game, stand up if a big play is made, sit back down.

yup. it's an alumni thing apparently. They do it right right after the "And that's another wolfpack 1st down". Didn't hear it in the south carolina game but I've heard it for the past 2 games. It gets annoying as fuck when we actually have decent drives going. Someone trade me a student ticket for my season tickets to the remaining games.
