Pirates are terrible but I still support them. I'm a Penguins and a Steelers fan ... it'd be lame not to be a Pirates fan at that rate. Besides PNC park is gorgeous and baseball is always fun.

Pittsburgh has shortcomings but the people here are pretty sweet

Frankly, the biggest problem I've seen is in trying to find other gay people my age to hang out with. In a smaller college town, there's a great disparity in ages... lots of college kids, lots of older adults. I've driven to Houston and Austin several times to shop and look around, and felt more at home in those large cities. Besides that, I personally have not seen any overt homophobia. None at work, none in the community here. I *have* seen homophobia in other parts of the state since moving here, which is more a reminder of general societal intolerance, I think.
