i just came in to give my short opinion. i just think the fact that people are even arguing over whether or not what he did was right/wrong or racist/not racist (not just on tww but in general) says a lot.

and that is all i have to say.

while i don't really think it's a big enough deal to or not to marry a couple like that, i do see him having the right to not do it himself without being practically stoned to death by you "accepting, diverse, anti-discriminatory, free-speech loving" hypocrites

well then you'd be wrong. the guy is an elected official and he has both a rule of law to follow and a obligations of duties to perform. failing to do so is failing to uphold the contract you had with those who elected you.

if he were a preacher and declined the opportunity to perform the marriage ceremony that would be well within his rights, but such is not the case with this man as he is a public servant.

so if i request to city council that i be allowed to make a fence around my yard made out of fishheads it should be ok because they are public servants
