I'm starting to not think it will be launched today

this is why i'm very hesitant to try a trip down to the cape to see a shuttle launch.

NASA will cancel a launch if so much as an alligator in the sound farts

I've been to two shuttle launches and from what I hear I got very very very lucky. My first was a night launch and was scrubbed due to a cloud at like 3,000ft right over the pad, but it went off the second night. My second launch was in the afternoon and went off without a hitch. It's totally worth it if you have a few days to allocate for scrubs.

Well it's better to scrub a launch for something trivial then to have abort mid-flight or something like that. The media tends to have a field day with that kind of stuff. People always hear about the failures but never the successful missions. I guarantee if you asked any person on the street to name two space shuttles they would say Challenger and Columbia, despite the fact that there have been over a hundred successful shuttle launches.

They are saying 11am to restart, but it is super cloudy there and I don't think they can launch after 12 today. I'm not optimistic about a launch today.

According to the weather plane there is a chance we could still go today. Wind is good and there are a few breaks in the clouds. Not likely but my fingers are crossed!

Looks like we are due for tomorrow, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

Weather is looking a lot more favorable tomorrow.

^Indeed, I have a buddy working the launch down at Kennedy and early early this morning he sent out a few text messages on the status. Apparently there were 11 lightning strikes last night within a 1 mile radius of pad 39B. Good thing those lightning towers were up. Skies are looking clear now though so we should be set for a 9am launch!

i really wish the hobag doing the weather could give a simple one sentance answer when they ask her a question.

"When do you think the window will re-open?"
"Well, the gravitational effect of the moose sneezing in Canada added rotational velocity to the upper level prevailing winds causing blah blah blah blah blah........" .. 5 minutes later.. " .. blah blah and that's the second time I had crabs, so maybe 10-70 minutes from now."

Nah that moose in Canada had a dream about a leaf that was blown by the wind towards the Ares I-X so they had to hold the countdown.
