How is Lake Gaston Virginia's? Considering the majority of the water resides in NC, the dam which forms the lake is in NC, and it is part of the Roanoke River watershed that runs through NC?

3. there is no caution light in macon, there is one at the intersection for the 158 bypass put in after several logging trucks smashed into the woods. including the one owned by mister hathcock who owned the large white building adjacent to the long riders bar, which also, has never held a klan meeting. .. i guess it's technically in macon, but the town clearly stops a half mile away

4. There are now three (count em) THREE businesses in macon. Four if you count the hotdog vender parked in the hathcock lot during the week

heck, i'm posting this from a laptop cobbled together with bits of those old car phones. you know, the ones with the cords and battery packs with their own shoulder straps.

you know what the primary memory is on this thing? pigs feet. fucking PIGS FEET. you may not know it to look at them but the average hog has close to a gig of volatile memory in it's hooves. i just had to rebuild this damn thing because I got a swine flu shot and although it isn't supposed to affect pigs, my frontside bus rate dropped to single digits. freaking insane. i know it doesn't have anything to do with my new copy of windows 7 because it says right in the flash intro movie "less demanding than Vista"

VEPCO serves almost as much of NC as Progress Energy does.

My gfs and I used to cruise Dabney Drive in high school while rocking out to Ricky Martin and Shania Twain. We thought we were badass b/c we were in the big city of Henderson.

Not sure if people still cruise it. I think there's been a crackdown on that due to gang violence.

The night I went to the bar of Macon some old biker dude passed out on the pool table while a band was playing. Literally...Homeboy went from leaning against it, to sitting on it, to laid back, to curled up in a fetal position and passed out. You totally have your pick of women there, but you'd probably rather just go home and beat off. It's in the top five trashiest bars I've ever attended. One of the most fun nights I'd had in a while, but I'm not planning on going back.

My housemate badly wants that "Taxidermy Here" sign that was on the old building they just tore down in the middle of Macon.

Haha, as someone who lives in Lincoln Co., I have to say it's not that bad....until you head to West Lincoln. You would think they're still fighting the Civil War over there. On the east side, toward Denver and parts of Iron Station (where I live), it's pretty nice. They've really done a lot on that half of the county in the last 10 years.

As for the worst, you can't go wrong with Gaston. The little places like Stanley and Alexis are ok, but just drive to Gastonia, Bessemer City and Cherryville, and you'll understand.

As someone from Cabarrus, I too have to say that it's not that bad.

For one thing, you get to pick your culturally dead hellscape (as opposed to the counties in this state that are comprised entirely of the shit in that last bullet point... the one about farms):

-Suburbs that are basically like Cary (Harrisburg and suburban Concord), but with even less interesting shit to do, redeemed only by being a 15 minute driving distance from a city that is almost interesting.

-A shit hole ghetto town (Kannapolis) that disguises it's shittiness by having a library that is actually very good and a small "historical district" consisting mainly of bricks, columns, and the old white Catholics who own many of them.

-Farms and woods. Shit fucking tons of farms and woods. Everything that isn't Harrisburg, Concord, or Kannapolis is basically just fucking farm and fucking woods and rotting suburbs (because frankly almost everyone with a decent job moved to suburban Concord or Harrisburg). Lots of fucking farms and woods. One of these mass-farm-groupings is even named "Midland", even though the people there demand that it be pronounced "midl'n'd" (though I might have that backwards, and they actually demand that you clearly enunciate every fucking bit of the word... don't remember exactly... but it's one of the two).


But really, despite this, those are really the only notable bad points of the county, aside from the mad bum rush of NASCAR fans to CharlotteLowe's Motor Speedway every now and then. Concord even has one of the nicest malls in the general area, arguably the entire state (at least it was that good when it was built).

And despite the suburbs of Harrisburg being culturally empty and basically devoid of any soul or personality, they've got a low crime rate, a high income rate, and the town is very well-maintained and growing quickly. The entire Harrisburg/Concord area even has a vastly superior public education system when compared to most of the rest of the state (from what I've seen of Wake, though... Wake still wins). And, again, it can sort of overcome the "culturally dead" bit by being only a 15-20 minute drive from Charlotte's NoDa arts district.

Lake Waccamaw is the shit...beautiful place. And half of it is surrounded by a national park, so it's not over-populated like shitty White Lake. And Whiteville isn't a bad small town.

The rest of Columbus County blows. And no "e" at the end of Chadbourn.
