Isn't Wal-Mart lower quality though?

actually my store has 17 of those Samsung 40" LCDs so ya know

Quote :
"What do you mean this HDTV is a "derivative?" Some of the holiday electronics with those low sale prices are derivatives, models that have a few less features than a standard model in that product line, said Dworsky.

The difference can be subtle. "The image contrast ratio might be 20,000 in a derivative model versus 30,000 in a standard model," he said. "Most consumers probably won't even notice the difference."

A report earlier this month in Consumer Reports called attention to HDTV models from Samsung and Sony advertised in Black Friday deals that appear to be "derivatives." The report said these one-off TVs "with unfamiliar model numbers" are usually cheaper than the standard model in their class.

Dworsky cautions that retailers usually don't advertise these models as derivatives. "There's no way the average consumer will know that the TV model they are buying is not the standard one unless they are savvy enough to compare their model numbers," he said."

yup i agree, we have several like this from Sony and Samsung........

Just bought a Samsung 32" LCD for $325 off slickdeals. IMO, much better deal than the Westinghouse, and I don't have to wait in line.

Doorbusters are only valid for a couple hours after opening. Regular sales are good all weekend or day.

this might have already been answered

but for online places (like say amazon) when do the black friday specials start? is it at 12am on friday? or at like a more normal time like 4am like "real" stores?

^Last year amazon's started sometime early in the morning. I feel like it was 4 am, but it might have been 3 am which would be midnight pacific (which is what amazons deals are always based on)

I got the KichenAid q qt. Artisan mixer (save the tata pink) over the summer from Kohl's with coupons for ~150 after tax as an engagement gift for the sister. I really do not think the Walmart one is worth standing in line for.

Also, last time I did Walmart they had black plastic on pallets in the middle of the aisles. At 5am they stripped off the plastic on all of them. You didn't even know what you were standing in front of......TOTAL MADNESS

I like Best Buy.,...tickets for everyone they have. If you are 1st. you have the shot of all the tickets; however, most people line up Thursday around 5 and I don't feel like doing that.

I've been researching the hell out of Black Friday this year, need to get some electronics.

If you see anything about some cheap 19" LCD TVs then give me a holler.

Yeah, they do it the safest way.

Expect to see more Palin supporters trampled this year, because Wally world doesn't have a clue.

No, because only Palin supporters are dumb enough to not get out of the way.

I have never, and will never do black friday shopping. The amount of hassle, lost sleep, wasted time, and quantity of terrible, terrible shitheads you have to deal with makes the savings not worth it to me. You guys have fun dealing with the a-holes running each other over to save a few hundo.

i actually have yet to encounter the crazy pushing shoving obnoxious people on a black friday. my sisters and i go together. so one of us stands in line, and the others get to go shopping.

it's actually kind of fun

I, too, go black friday shopping with siblings. Well with my little brother. We do it more for the fun and as a tradition than anything else. Heck...we usually just end up with cheap dvds. But one year i did get a bunch or ammo at dicks for a pretty good price as well as some new insulated camo for hunting and some nice insulated boots. We will figure out tomorrow where to go on friday...heck...i have to be at work friday at 7am anyways...not like i get to sleep in.
