A pea coat was the first thing I had in mind when I made this thread, but I think it's the length that gets me. I think I'd prefer a jacket.

I just want to say that I made the claim that you gotta love a man in a pea coat on page one. I only say this bc I am rarely the first one to make statements of fact in TWW threads.
11/18/2009 5:54:23 PM
I would like to say that miska and I had a moment about loving men in peacoats a couple of weeks ago when that GQ spread came out.But yes, you were the first in this thread
11/18/2009 5:56:31 PM
surprisingly warm...this is what I wear from spring through fall, before it gets OMFG IT'S -15 DEGREES OUTSIDE. FUCK YOU UPSTATE NY cold outsideit's waterproof as well ]
11/18/2009 5:58:20 PM
you should buy a sweat duster
11/18/2009 6:04:41 PM
I need to get a new coat, my old one got lost/stolen in the middle of last winter and I've just been wearing my work jacket all the time. Its comfortable but its more of a windbreaker without much padding and it has my company's logo printed on the front - so its not the best thing to wear out for formal event.I would like to get a peacoat, but I dont know how good one would look on me

I wear something like this most of the time (a bit darker):and I have a crazy warm North Face parka
12/8/2009 4:01:29 AM
I just got a black wool car coat as opposed to a pea coat. It is pretty bad ass and extremely warm. I was outside tonight and was almost sweating with just it and a t-shirt on.

I have a topcoat similar to this one that I've had for years. It's like putting on a blanket when you go out in it--very warm in the cold.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 8:26 AM. Reason : Linky.]
12/8/2009 8:23:25 AM
I bought this peacoat but it's not very warm. Thinking about returning it and finding something warmer, even though it looks damn good.http://www.express.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=21617&parentCategoryId=1&categoryId=97&subCategoryId=97[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 8:59 AM. Reason : a]

turner classic movies?
12/8/2009 9:06:13 AM
my favorite winter clothing purchase so far was made at wal-mart a few weeks ago.got a sweatpants suit. sweatshirt, sweatpants, socks, and toboggan (HAT). all of them are that awesome sweatpants gray color. and i wear that around the house. the girl next door works for a clothing designer. travels back and forth to NYC a lot, bigtime into style. she came over the other night to borrow an extension cord. and she said that my 12 dollar sweatpants suit was fucking awesome.yeah boyyyyyy

^^^I couldn't find that one at Club Moraco's site and there isn't a store location anywhere around here.I avoided dropping the cash for that cashmere nonsense and settled for a wool/poly blend from overstock for half the price. It's probably from a million seasons ago, but it's not like generic topcoats are as trendy as teh peacoats.
12/8/2009 9:32:26 AM
peacoats have been "trendy" since i was in high school 10 years agothat's not too trendy
12/8/2009 9:52:03 AM
I outgrew my peacoat
12/8/2009 10:03:17 AM
i have one of those columbia jackets with the outer shell and inner lining fleece. wear the jacket when it's not really cold and it's wet. wear the fleece up to the medium coldness. together w/ the liner and i'm warm in the snow
12/8/2009 10:20:26 AM
I still use my old CG bridgecoat, the thing is a beast.
12/8/2009 11:47:19 AM
finally got a peacoat so i have something a little nicer to wear out in this cold ass weather
12/7/2010 5:02:19 PM
New York Giants Starter pullover jacket all day errr day
12/7/2010 5:04:12 PM
I get a new black, grey, or charcoal pea coat every other year. They're awesome jackets because they work well for going out on the weekends or wearing over my more formal clothes to work. I don't consider a pea coat "trendy," it is just a staple jacket that has been around for a longgggg time.[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 5:08 PM. Reason : .]
12/7/2010 5:06:55 PM
Oh mannnnnn this thread is back We have some really hot Burberry coats at work, and I drool over them on the daily.Jeepin you just added 50 points to your hot-o-meter [Edited on December 7, 2010 at 5:18 PM. Reason : ^you get points too! SLAVE...HILARIOUS]
12/7/2010 5:18:21 PM
I'd love to get my husband a nice overcoat like this: But he would prefer to just wear is snow jacket when he walks to work. He thinks it's better for the wind (which is terrible here), and he may be right, but I think the overcoat looks so much more professional.
12/7/2010 5:20:02 PM
^speaking from personal experience a longer coat like that does a better job protecting from the winds of Manhattan than a ski jacket.
12/7/2010 5:41:30 PM
that's what I said! He's stubborn though, and seeing as he only has to walk two blocks to work, I just don't bother trying to argue my point
12/7/2010 5:45:22 PM
I wore my wool topcoat to work today (for those of you not in NC it was FUCKING COLD and WINDY) and found it to be quite toasty. Only issue is that the opening at the top hits me a little lower on the chest than I'd prefer (it's a bit big on me, bought it when I was ~25 lbs heavier) so I need to find a good scarf to go along with it. Plus it works with a range of clothes, not just a suit.
12/7/2010 6:20:04 PM
My uncle got me a pretty sweet pea coat in London. I got blood all over a sleeve though... so I don't wear it anyore.
12/7/2010 6:32:03 PM
Men in Scarves...yum
12/7/2010 7:03:37 PM
casual cool temp, I go for a north face fleece. Casual cold temp, I go for my Marmot fleece (it is completely wind proof- freaking amazing. I need a good dress/casual and dress coat. I like pea-coats, but they look really funny on me.
12/7/2010 7:06:04 PM
^^even penis scarves?[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 7:07 PM. Reason : ^^]
12/7/2010 7:06:33 PM
I have a casual Northface fleece that I wear if I just run to the store or out somewhere. I have a ski jacket that has inserts depending on the temperature/wind.But I mainly wear a peacoat and scarf if I'm going to work or out..[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 7:16 PM. Reason : i might have to get a overcoat though -- more conducive to wearing over a suit]
12/7/2010 7:15:49 PM
^More men need to dress like you.
12/7/2010 7:17:00 PM
I have no reason to wear a suit anymore, so there is no need for me to get a scarf. A nice pea coat would suffice for almost anything I would wear out.
12/7/2010 7:18:17 PM
I wear a scarf almost every time I go out in the winter... even with jeans and a button-up. Keeps me warm... No apologies.[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 7:19 PM. Reason : i mean it's a casual scarf]
12/7/2010 7:19:20 PM
I don't care if you wear a scarf for function... but you coming to bada with a scarf on your shoulders (not your neck)- that is going to get some heckling outta me
12/7/2010 7:20:13 PM
I need a new dress winter coat but I'm not gay enough to pull off a pea coat. Sorry ladies!
12/7/2010 7:20:23 PM
i go between the leather jacket (not exact, but similar) and the northface:and this northface:
12/7/2010 7:20:26 PM
LOL, I agree with that Brett.. but I just came from someplace where we were outside eating that night and didn't need it at Bada but got dropped off. I almost always actually wear it if I have it.[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 7:23 PM. Reason : at least around the back of my n eck]
12/7/2010 7:23:33 PM
it's ok- I got called out for my gloves/mittens 3 times today- 2 were compliments/questions as to where I got them though. They are awesome! not very dressy at all, but super functional:
