So is capital punishment supposed to be a punishment or a deterrent? Or both? If it's supposed to be a deterrent, shouldn't we be making the methods of death so horrible, painful, gruesome and terrifying, to actually discourage crimes warranting such retribution by society?

I'm all for being a moral, just, and civilized society, that shit sounds cool. But when you have raped and murdered a women and her two daughters, I want to see you skinned alive with a cheese grater and fed to the pigs while screaming in agony. Fuck it, I'll sit front row with popcorn for that shit.

This lethal injection bullshit is a pussy cop-out. Bring back the good stuff.

Apparently the executioners have to get shitfaced drunk in order to go through with it.

They gave up on that guy last month. They couldn't find a vein and just gave up. He's still in jail.

Executioners have got to be fucked up people. Their job is to essentially walk up to a random person and kill them in cold blood. It's not even self-defense -- just workman-like killing. Unless they are complete psychopaths, they probably need to layer on a bunch of emotional outrage to make themselves feel good about the process of killing another human who is tied up.
