i didn't want to say "our parents" as i thought with the mention of other relatives it might be confusing...and it was just simply too early added to my "bah humbug-fuck this holiday" distracted self to say my/mine

My brother and sister and law are not coming, yet again, because of her parents.
I hate the tension of arguing about who's not coming and why and the whining blah blah blah blah.
Then I get the uncomfortable crap like "well we are SO glad that YOU are able to come even though we know you are so busy with work. Your brother doesn't even call anymore like you do"
uggghhhhh
can't we all just get along??

Lol, I'm spending thanksgiving with a friend of mine. It's basically going to be a lamefest with some beer and some delicious food options. Simple, delicious food options.

I'm going to visit my family Saturday. Couldn't visit tomorrow because of how leave works inside the government.

My grandmommy didn't grow the corn crop this year. So we have no home-grown sweet corn.

She's gonna hear it!

haha this thread is funny. the biggest drama in my house today is wtf we are going to do with SIX pies. we're taking 3 with us to dinner but the other 3 are staying home

however if i was at my dad's there would def be drama with my step mom. she really gets under my skin and i just end up completely ignoring her when i'm over there... and staying in a hotel instead of their house.

good thing im at home in nc this year. relaxing and enjoyable family time

I created the first wave of drama last night at dinner. My grandma informed us that my cousin would be bringing some sort of lamb to t-day dinner and then I got on a roll about if it was sacrificial lamb for a pagan ritual. Did not end well.

stepfathers mom is getting a divorce from her second husband. she went psycho and ripped up his clothes and bleached them and burned them etc. wanted 50k originally, and the guy was ok with that, and then wanted 80k and the guy said no. she acts like hes the bad one(she thinks he cheated), but pretty much everyone sides with the guy. the ppl are mountain hick scum as far as i'm concerned anyways

I'll transfer this from the awkward conversation thread:

Quote :
"it hasn't happened yet but it will:

my dad's side of the family is at my place right now. my 16 year old cousin is wearing a silver cross his girlfriend gave him.

if anyone hasn't figured it out by now, we're Jewish.

I'm waiting for my grandpa to just erupt in anger, but I don't think he's noticed yet. My grandpa is a huge, intimidating man, and I wouldn't want to be on his bad side

there will be a shouting match, followed by all of my dad's siblings saying how much better their kids are because they would never do such a thing. My sister and i are the only ones out of 10 grandchildren that are dating other Jews right now. Grandpa bought everyone else a copy of a book called "Why Marry Jewish?"

then my twice-divorced aunt will get really drunk and scare off the guy she's been dating the past year, who was probably planning on proposing soon.

yay family gatherings "

I actually just found out the dude already proposed to my aunt. I asked my parents why nobody told me, and they said they only found out through facebook. That is both funny and sad at the same time.

Also, this guy's daughter has a tendency to get really flirty with me. I thought about going for it back when I was single, but I was worried how awkward it would be if we became "step-cousins." I'm glad I didn't.

Well, its just me, my husband and our pet birds today. Not too much drama but the birds have already been pretty cheeky today. I might have to cover them up when he gets home.
