You can see that there's no stress on the skin because it's not pierced using a ring; it's pierced with a surface bar so the piercing goes straight in perpendicular to the skin. The bar has a bead on top that can be fitted with a ball closure ring that puts the ring on top, totally above the skin, so that you can thread the corset. [/piercing snob]

That girl actually had them done permanently; 90% of the pics out there would have to have them taken out within a few days max to avoid complications from healing or infections. With surface bars, there is a much much lower chance of infection, rejection or scarring.
