It is quite interesting how so many Americans (ITT and in general) decry the justice system in European countries and say America's system is the best and is fair.

Do they not know that a judge gave a 20-yo rapist a 45 day sentence in Texas because she (judge) said that the victim (14 yo) was promiscuous? Plus 250 hours of community service at a rape crisis center!!!

Or that a judge in NY let a serial rapist off the hook in NY because the defendant didn't fight off the rapist enough, even though she screamed and he muffled her screams with a pillow?

^^^ the texas case is in chit chat. where did i say what you are implying i claimed in your mocking second line? my point is that american justice can be just as insane [as the insanest cases out there around the world], but that many/most americans don't know of examples as their lives are occupied by day-to-day drudgery, and understandably, international cases with weird sentences garner a lot of attention, and then they go all up in arms. and i gave 2 examples, they are not "claims", rather, factual cases. if you want more examples, there are dedicated websites by organizations and selfless activists that give thousands of examples of american [in]justice.

I speak up against injustice everywhere I see it. You should see the comments I post on the website of a local newspaper, such comments would have landed me in jail/gotten me deported just 10 years ago.

There are links to news website sources in the article, you can read those. Anyway, the teen's sentence was overturned after he spent 4 years in jail. This is what happened, if you care: Browder, a Bronx native, was on his way home from a party when he was arrested. "This guy comes out of nowhere and says I robbed him," Browder told WABC. "And the next thing I know they are putting cuffs on me. I don't know this dude. And I do over three years for something I didn't do." (There was no evidence of any sort)
