the last time i went there was a couple of years ago. only one of us out of a group of four wanted to go, and it was after we'd been to a couple other bars. he wanted to go because he wanted a fat girl to go home with him, and mentioned this in a sort of "i need to pick up some milk on the way home from work" fashion.

so we went in, it took him about a minute to find one that met his low standard, another minute to chat her up, another to get her on the dance floor, and about five minutes later he was gone. mission accomplished. we left.

buckhead is a fun place - many of you dissing it are probably outside of the 21-29 demographic there....I will say the 18+ nights are weird, and should probably be stopped. It makes it uncomfortable. But it is one of the only young professional bars there. But as with any place, they start out with a bang and slowly raise drink prices, cut cover comps, and switch marketing to demoprahics that aren't there, losing out for everyone. It's annoying they price a beer at $3.75 so you'll give the whole $5 to the waiter. They started off at $2 beers.

Plus the lax dress code has made it a little gehtto. I don't think it's too late for buckhead, but definetly need to go back to the basics when it was hot. It's pretty simple.

Nothing about Buckhead says "young professionals."

Any place that charges cover but doesn't have a name DJ (even a local name) or a band playing originals is an immediate red flag.

how long has it been since you went to Buckhead? or have you even been? its certainly no longer the college bar that it once was...we've tried to make it a little classier.

we do have name DJs and good local bands that are pretty well known nationally and some good local bands as well.

for anyone that is on here and wants to check it out again or has never even been...if you will go one friday or saturday let me know, you will get a beer on me.

i used to go all the time...back when chuck was a manager and julie did promotions...back then, you had melissa, amy, elo, etc....i've been told that just about everyone has turned over since a year ago with the exception of one or two...i enjoyed the bar, but my fiance hated it...was too crowded for her. the $20 all you can drink nights were pretty bad ass.

i've been to buckhead twice, quite to my dismay.

and i can tell you, it sucked. I went there when I was 26, and when I was 28.

most of the girls I saw were arguably not old enough to drink. most of the guys I saw were greasy fucks trying to fuck the underage girls.

oh, and worst bar service I've ever had at any bar in Raleigh. ever.
