jeez, shit did just get real. Everything is coming to a head. Asher is one manipulating SOB. Very excited to see what the return of Glaber brings to the table.

I think there are 2 episodes left

Anyone know where they are on production of season 2? I know it was supposed to pick up back in February but got delayed because the lead actor was diagnosed with cancer. They didn't expect to be delayed too long, but I haven't heard anything since.

what i think will happen (surprised it hasn't yet) is that the slave girl will get pregnant, lucretia will find out and also learn that it's Crixus' child. She will kill the slave girl once she's given birth and raise the child as her own, all the while banishing Crixus from seeing it and forcing him to join Spartacus.

I know this follows the historical slave revolt, but from everything i've read the writers and creators are not just following the story down a straight path, i suspect a lot of fictional liberties will continue to play out.

^ you know the show has been leaked online a day or 2 early since the 3rd episode or so.

tonight's episode was damn good. lots of loose ends got tied up. Now all that's left is for Spartacus and the rest of the newly unified and pissed-off gladiators to "Kill Them All".

can't wait.

^ I will talk about the blood bath with you. It was so awesome. Completely satisfied with the ending. When Crixus tapped his shield, that was bad ass.

SPOILER

The only thing I that didn't happen that I really wanted was for Ilithia to get killed so hard.

what a great finale. I haven't been that satisfied with a season finale in a long long time. It was completely awesome. The house of Batiatus has fallen. I was glad to see Doctore step aside and not get in the middle of it as I really like him. Can't wait for next season! Get well soon Andy Whitfield so season 2 can resume filming!!!

doctore is the one who beats Glaber, but i have a feeling they will write it so Spartacus kills him

eventually Crassus is going to hand Spartacus his ass, hopefully they will let him get away playing on the fact that his body was never found

PS i bet the scene when they climb down the cliffs will be bad ass

I kind of hope that Ilithia isnt killed, but forced to live on without her husband and/or the fact that she killed the rich woman revealed

Watched the finale the other night. Tied up a lot of loose ends. Probably some of the best directing/script writing I've seen in awhile. I think the acting is OK for what it is, I think the actors are getting better each episode it seems they are getting more and more involved in their characters.

Looking forward to next season.

Yeah, the acting did seem to be improving as the season went along. The first few episodes were pretty bad actingwise. This show has the potential to be really entertaining and has a historical plot line that provides a good framework and will drive the story, but the lack of details will give the writer's alot of room to maneuver.

"Pre-production has begun on a six-part Spartacus: Blood and Sand prequel to air in January, Starz announced Tuesday.

The untitled project, which will start shooting this summer, will focus on the rise of the House of Batiatus and its champions before Spartacus entered the picture as a captured slave.

Watch full episodes of Spartacus: Blood and Sand

The prequel will star Spartacus' Lucy Lawless and John Hannah and new characters such as the gladiator who was champion of the House of Batiatus. The series will also feature appearances from cast members including Peter Mensah, Manu Bennett, Antonio Te Maioha, Nick Tarabay, Lesley-Ann Brandt as well as series star Andy Whitfield.

Spartacus star diagnosed with cancer; production halted

Whitfield is undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which forced Starz to delay production on Spartacus' second season. According to Starz, Whitfield's doctors indicate the actor is responding well.

"The prequel story maintains the excitement and entertainment value of the first season of Spartacus, giving audiences the engaging experience they've come to expect," said Starz President Chris Albrecht. "Fortunately, Andy is responding to his treatments, and will be able to be part of this prequel in a limited capacity. As soon as he's able, we look forward to continuing the Spartacus story."

Will you tune into the Spartacus prequel?

A prequel? Seriously? How can they go backwards when they left us right at the beginning of the slave rebellion? I'll probably still watch but this news bothers me.

pretty much. That and this allows them utilize sets they already have built and make a show for next to nothing while waiting on their main character to recover.

I will probably watch, but i don't like it because i was so happy when they finally killed off Batiatus and Lucrecia.

bttt. Season 2 is back on track after Andy Whitfield was given a clean bill of health last month. Filming of the 6-part prequel will end in late september with the cast and crew moving right into production of season 2 in October.

In other news Lucretia will return in season 2. More lucy lawless

Quote :
"Although Starz execs have yet to decide how Andy Whitfield’s cancer relapse will impact the future of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, exec producer Steven S. DeKnight reveals that one of two things will likely happen: a new actor will be brought in to replace Whitfield or the series will end.

“The two main options are to close up shop or recast,” says DeKnight. “I want to talk to Andy and find out how he feels about the options. That’s obviously very important to us.

“We’re still absorbing what’s happened,” adds DeKnight. “I think it’s going to be a little while before we reach any conclusions.” (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, a prequel to the series, will still air as scheduled in January 2011.)

DeKnight says his primary concern remains Whitfield, who bowed out of the show’s second season after doctors advised him to resume “aggressive treatment” for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. “He’s a trooper,” marvels DeKnight. “He has a very positive outlook.”
"

if they do decide to close up shop Season 1 could go down in my book as one of the best one and done television series ever.

^^That sucks but I guess you can't wait forever. Also, I think this is a better alternative to canceling the series (unless his replacement ends up really sucking). I mean there has only been one season, it's not like the main character is being replaced after 3-4 seasons of a show.
