i know spring training doesn't mean anything, but in eight Grapefruit League games, the Mets have collected 92 hits.

For comparison, the Rockies are in second with 75.

I wouldn't worry. I'm watching it in the background while I do some stuff and he looked fine. Just didn't have the location but he was sitting at 93 on his fastball which is all I was worried about. If he can sit there, his changeup will be back to being devastating.

it was the first time he's pitched to opponants since August and his surgery, of course there were going to be bumps.

i'm not worried at all.

Ike hit another bomb today. He needs to start in AAA but he is getting my pumped. Too bad for Murph.

^i still say Murphy should be the third outfielder until Beltran returns and let Ike start at first in the majors.

Also for your consideration, the mets have scored 67 runs, the Blue Jays in second with 50.

I know him getting rocked isn't a big deal

I just tend to overreact

I was ready to put Kaz Matsui in the hall of fame after his very first at bat

My dad went down to Florida last week and took some really good pictures at spring training.

Bay:

Wright...in really good spirits:

Check out the muscles in Wright's arm, its obvious he's been building strength:

Not exactly sure what is going on here, but its funny:

I've got a Mets team in Franchise mode in MLB 2K10

I was proposed the trade offer by Texas of getting Kinsler for Beltran

I countered successfully and sent Beltran, Castillo and Francoeur to the Rangers, for Kinsler and Hamilton

Welcome to right field, Angel Pagan

Move Murphy to the outfield and bring up Davis. (I'm assuming the game has AA rosters)

Murphy is a corner INF. That is the only position he is capable of playing. He'll never be serviceable in the outfield or at 2B. And he'll probably not be a Mets player past 2010.

Anyway, Murphy has a sprained knee. If he misses opening day (we should know later today) than the Issac show starts earlier than expected. Part of me hopes he lights it up and we never see Murphy again... but I realize that is unlikely.

Also, nothing left to do but pray about the pitching. The rotation order is:

Santana
Maine
Niese
Pelfrey
Perez

Not a single sure thing in there.

I just want to note that all the late comers and hanger-ons copied the three longest running baseball threads. Since I've been on here the Mets, Yankees and Braves have had their own thread every year. The Cardinals one is long lasting as well.

All these other fools just ride the coattails.

Frenchy is actually drawing walks? Huh?

He actually did a good job of watching pitches in Spring, too. If he can just up his OBP he can be a decent player.

Reyes is the single most important guy on the team. Has been since 2006. As he goes, the Mets go.

I can't tell you how disheartening it is to have the bottom of the order do well and get on base (like on Weds.) and have ........... Alex Cora come to the plate.

On the plus side, Niese looked like he can be a pretty good pitcher. He's got a nice cutter now to go along with a 92 mph fastball and his nasty curve. He'll be a solid mid-rotation guy.

I can agree with that... but it depends of if we get Ollie or his evil twin Rollie tonight.

Also, Jose IS back today. Can't wait to watch him play. He is the ONE guy that is can't miss in baseball still. Never know what he'll do.

[Edited on April 10, 2010 at 10:43 AM. Reason : Also, Ike Davis is already tearing up AAA. 3 2B and a HR so far in two games. Kid is sick.]

Ryan retired in 1994, so this was long after that. I have an Ondonez rookie card with him in a St. Lucie Mets uni from 1996(?)
