If our guards are hitting their shots we should be able to win this game. UNC's major problem is they are a very poor defensive team. However, if Roy stops being a stubborn idiot and plays some 2-3 zone we could be in some trouble. With their length they could really pose some trouble for us.

We're sitting here at 13-7 (2-4). Man that Florida game really hurts. We will certainly win one more game since we have NC Central on the schedule, but we need to finish out the conference schedule 7-3 if we have any hope at making the tournament. The opportunity is still there and the players need to play like they can't afford to lose a game. I don't care how much the refs suck. If we go 20-11 (9-7) I think we will make the tournament, and we'd be a lock if we won a game in the ACC Tournament. Very rarely do ACC teams that go 9-7 in conference play not make the tournament. Heck we once made it with a 7-9 record a couple of years ago. If we go 8-8 then we'd have to probably make it to the semi-finals and perhaps even the finals of the ACC Tournament to make it in. If we go 7-9 we'd have to win the tournament b/c we didn't win the games that we should have won in the OOC schedule. Everyone needs to begin pulling for Northwestern, Florida, and Arizona (who beat up on ASU earlier this week 77-58) as well as the other OOC opponents to do well in their respective leagues.

Georgia State: 9-12 (3-6) 7th in CAA
Akron: 13-6 (3-2) 3rd in the MAC
Austin Peay: 11-10 (5-4) 4th in the OVC
Auburn: 10-10 (1-4) 5th in the SEC West, 11th overall in the SEC
New Orleans: 7-13 (2-7) 6th in the Sun Belt West, 12th overall in the Sun Belt (I feel bad for that team, especially since they are having to move down to Div-II b/c of the school's budget crunch since they are still feeling the effects of Hurricane Katrina)
Northwestern: 14-5 (3-4) 6th in the Big Ten
Marquette: 11-8 (2-5) 14th in the Big East
Georgia Southern: 5-16 (2-6) 6th in the Southern South, 11th overall in the Southern Conference
Elon: 4-15 (2-6) 6th in the Southern North, 12th overall in the Southern Conference
Arizona: 10-9 (4-3) technically tied for 2nd, but they'd go down as the 5th team in the Pac-10 if the season ended today due to tie-breaker rules. They are one game out of 1st, which shows how pathetic the Pac-10 is this year.
Winthrop: 9-10 (5-4) 6th in the Big South
UNC-Greensboro: 4-16 (3-6) 5th in the Southern North, 10th overall in the Southern Conference
Florida: 14-5 (3-2) 4th in the SEC East, 6th in the SEC overall
Holy Cross: 5-15 (2-3) 7th in the Patriot League
NCCU: 4-17 (they are independents in basketball)


Wow now that I look at it, our OOC schedule turned out to be pretty horrible. I mean some of that is teams not performing as well as we thought they would when we put them on the schedule (I'm looking at UF, UA, Marquette, Winthrop, and Holy Cross), but that still doesn't change the fact that we had some absolutely horrible teams on the schedule.

Fuck it- I'll take two wins over UNC and an NIT berth. But those two are probably less likely than us going 10-6 in conference. At least we should destroy them on Tuesday- plz to not rush the court.

Because unc is inexperienced. That's why they suck at defense at all positions. They also can't shoot that well from the perimeter, so you can sag down and stymie their awesome front court. If they aren't scoring easy points off of fast breaks, they have a tough time scoring with half court offense. And none of their guards are nowhere near as good as lawson on the break.

With that said, they Roy will have them prepped. They had a week off to scout us, rest, and practice hard. Roy needs this win so they don't get in danger of missing the tourney. I don't think we will be prepared for them.

They can easily come out with bounce on defense and offense and outrebound us for easy points. We were flat-footed all night versus MD, and they got a lot of easy putbacks. Don't see why it wouldnt be the same against UNC.
