Okay, I understand and appreciate the sentiment, but how can censoring discussion in school lead to having open discourse at home?

either kids are going to get the correct information at school, from a critically-reviewed program backed by science, or they're going to get misinformation from hallway or locker room conversations with other kids.


I see it like this, that there's a few basic categories of parents:

(1) for thoughtful and engaged parents (like i assume you would be), what better way to start a discussion at home, than to follow up on the subject material that was brought up in class. any misunderstandings, incomplete explanations, or differing opinions would aired out at home.

(2) for negligent and/or ignorant parents, their child would get either no information or misinformation at home, so they need to get the basics at school or they're likely to get themselves or someone else pregnant and/or contract STDs at age 15.

(3) for Bible- or Quran-thumping zealots who like to pretend that the world is 6000 years old, that speciation is fixed and immutable, and that dinosaurs bones were put in the ground by Satan... well, they need to be sending their kids to a Bob Jones preparatory school, anyhow.
