Someone posted that last season and I can't quite remember for sure, but I believe that it was somewhere near Garner.

It should be on every road into Raleigh. If the neighborhood street crosses the city limit, a house should be dropped and this sign in its place.

Yeah, Raleigh has those "This is Canes Country" banners all around down town. Let's get some NCSU shit up there too. Let's run this town.

I'm trying to remember when I-40 was completed, we used to ride 3-wheelers on the weekend in the construction site. In the raleigh area, it was completed probably in the late 80's.

1906 team on the practice field

1923 State-Carolina game at the original Riddick Stadium, more than 13,000 were in attendance. At this time it was traditionally played on the week of the State Fair.

Cathey's famous quarterback sneak for score against Carolina in 1941

Quote :
"In 1941, the Pack employed the Tennessee System on offense. It was basically a single-wing attack with the quarterback crouching close to the ground behind the center. However, the quarterback played a much different role than he does in modern football. The quarterback rarely ran the football, and the position was also referred to as the "blocking back." When State met Carolina, Wolfpack co-captain Bob Cathey was State's quarterback.

On second down from the 16, Cathey ran what was known as a "quarterback sneak" at that time. Cathey took the ball from center Jimmy Allen and proceeded to make a number of fakes to the halfbacks. The defense, which had watched Cathey hand off all afternoon, went for those fakes. Cathey then tucked the ball into his stomach, bent over and slowly moved down the field. Near the line of scrimmage Cathey bounced off a couple of UNC defenders who didn't realize he had the ball, and then Cathey trotted into the end zone virtually unnoticed for a touchdown."

Some historic Wolfpack football images.

NC State vs. Wake Forest in 1984

Before the days of televised games, Wolfpack fans would scale trees to watch the games at Riddick Stadium (circa 1930s)

From the 1933 Agromeck: "North Carolina State College's Wolfpack opened their 1932 football season by beating the Mountain Bears of Appalachian 38-0 on Riddick Field in a night game before five thousand fans." When did LSU start playing night games? This just proves that we've always played our best at night. I wish we had the clout to almost always play our home games at night like the way LSU does.

Wolfpack football players in the locker room at halftime of the game against the University of Wyoming in 1961.

Mack Stout ’31 was an all-star at NC State both on and off the football field. Stout not only captained the 1930 football team and was an All-American in 1930 (NC State’s second), he also was student body vice president and class president during his senior year. By popular student vote, the Sanford native won the 1930-31 Alumni Award presented by the General Alumni Association for outstanding athletic ability and high scholastic standing. Now that's what I call a BAMF! I mean his name is Stout for crying out loud.

When John H. Ripple arrived at NC State in 1917, he was just another 6-foot, 180-pound freshman. But by his sophomore year, he had found his calling on the NC State football team. Though he had never played the sport before, he became NC State’s first All-American in 1918.

The North Carolina Agricultural and Mechanical College's football team in 1895. In the school's fourth year of football, the team finished 1-2-1.

NC State head football coach Lou Holtz, left, flanker Pat Kenney ’73, center, and defensive back Tom Siegfried ’73 pose with the Peach Bowl Championship trophy following the Wolfpack's 49-13 win over West Virginia on Dec. 29, 1972.

A view from the sidelines of the Oct. 20, 1921, football game between NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill at Riddick Stadium. The Wolfpack won 7-0 and would go on to finish 3-3-3.

An NC State back barrels ahead against UNC in Chapel Hill in 1964. The Wolfpack beat the Tar Heels 14-13 and went on to win the ACC.

Color commentator Wally Ausley, left, and play-by-play announcer Bill Jackson huddle with the Wolfpack football team in 1970.

Kicker Harold Deters '68 is mobbed after hitting the winning field goal against Florida State in the final game at Riddick Stadium in 1965. The Wolfpack beat the Seminoles 3-0.

I AM PROPOSING THAT WE ORGANIZE A FIRE LEE FOWLER DEMONSTRATION ON OPENING DAY...

I WOULD LIKE TO GET DONATIONS AND HAVE A BANNER MADE TO FLY ON THE BACK OF A SMALL AIRPLANE (LIKE GEICO DOES) THAT SIMPLY SAYS FIRE FOWLER. We can have it fly around during the tailgating hours leading up until the game.

....then, when kickoff comes around, we can drop a giant blue PAINTBALL on him and make him vanish forever into thin air.

Lol at Wilson pitching out of the bullpen this year.

Prediction: Comes into first game of the year in the 9th, flings a wild pitch, it deflects off the backstop into the stands and hits Mike Glennon in the face. Wilson will require Tommy Johns, and Glennon will need facial reconstruction.

Both player's football season over before they start.

Tyler Brosius starts as true freshman in WCU game.

It is confirmed that they will do a carbon copy of the Vaughn Towers on the East side and will add a twenty million dollar multipurpose indoor practice facility.

When is the last time a FBS team played a game @ a FCS stadium? This seems unprecedented. When can we go play a game at App State?

That's how I read it. New bathrooms, new entrance gates, new plaza, probably a fancy wolf statue, etc.

"NC State defensive coordinator Mike Archer said a lot of people have questioned his relationship with Jon Tenuta, who has 16 years of experience as a defensive coordinator but was recently hired to coach the Pack's linebackers, but Archer said he and Tenuta have gotten along extremely well.

In fact, it sounds like it's going to be a good arrangement for NC State's struggling defense.

“Jon is a great football coach," Archer said. "We’re very fortunate that he would come join us. In spending time with him these last two weeks, talking about scheme and how we can help our players, I think he’s going to do a great job with those kids, and they’re going to flourish in what he’s teaching them."

One thing that's helped smooth the transition is the fact that both Archer and Tenuta have learned from former LSU coach Bill Arnsparger. Their coaching ties go back to 1984. Archer coached at LSU and Tenuta went to Arnsparger's camp.

"His roots go back to my roots," Archer said. “When John and I started talking, all of our trigger terms and the terminology were things we learned from Bill Arnsparger. It’s been very refreshing for me to come in and sit down and talk football and he knows everything I’m talking about and I know what he’s talking about. That’s been tremendous. It’s been better than I ever thought.

"His vast knowledge and his ability to pressure quarterbacks -- everybody in the ACC knows what he’s done. If we can take concepts and ideas and give them to our players yet make them simple -- most importantly make them simple -- because he’s got a system and I’ve got a system. Now what we’re doing is trying to get the kids to understand the simple trigger terms that will help them learn. I’m fired up about it. I’m excited. The last two weeks we’ve spent talking football has been really good.”"

^ Do we just have the dumbest fucking players on earth or something? All I ever hear is that we have to keep things simple for the defense. Fuck that shit, teach them a complicated system if it will work. That simple shit routinely gave up 35+ pts a game last year.

Tenuta needs to tell Archer to STFU, I'm running this shit now, go coach the long snapper.

^^^^ ohhhh, i get it.

So Archer and Andy McCollum must not have understood each other. Wait... if Tenuta is the only person who "understands" Archer so far, no wonderrrrrr. Archer must sound like he's talking chinese or greek Arnsparger to the rest of the coaches.

So its not Archer's fault, its EVERYONE else's.
