bttt
my uncle went and did a tandem dive at Skydive Carolina in Chester this past weekend. I had no idea, or i would have gone with him. Just watched his video and it looked like the easiest, most carefree experience. 7/26/2010 3:31:00 PM |

I did this tandem (at Raeford) and it was so awesome. I have a video and pics somewhere. 7/26/2010 9:58:40 PM |

I've jumped at work with some guys that probably would've been over the legal limit, but it's all static line. 7/28/2010 6:41:07 PM |

They actually just sold 550 tandems when they ran a $145 special. However that's over now. I'd highly recommend Raeford. They have a wind tunnel you can try too if you do chicken out. 7/29/2010 8:19:47 AM |

^i was just doing some light research about the various places to do it around NC and then started reading up on the AFF program which seems pretty exhilarating, but you literally canopy and land by yourself with only remote voice assistance!? how hard is that? 7/29/2010 8:28:02 AM |

I did about 100 AFFs this year and everyone made it to the ground, so it can't be that hard
The canopies you start jumping are big enough its fairly difficult to hurt yourself. Raeford also has the tunnel so freefall is a bit easier for both instructor and student.

cool, i'm in Charlotte these days so Skydive Carolina is probably my closest option. The place seems legit and that's where my uncle did his tandem last week.
i'm going to try and spark an interest between some friends to get a group to go. 7/29/2010 9:33:51 AM |

Yeah they are a great place to go. Waiting on friends to go is like herding cats. When I first started I waited 6 months on other people, and finally went by myself. Then everyone wanted to go. At that point you get discounts for bringing a friend so it works out better that way 7/29/2010 9:45:36 AM |

yeah finding a support group will be the hardest thing. none of my friends around here are really adventurous to this level. 7/29/2010 11:02:13 AM |

That's where I did my one and only jump. Can't really compare them with other places, but I can say that they were excellent7/29/2010 12:36:18 PM |

I was supposed to go this past saturday at Triangle Sky Diving, but got cancelled due to the weather.
We're thinking about rescheduling for this sat, but we'd have to be that at 8 with like a 10am jump time (I think). It's supposed to be a high of 64 that day and some are worried about how cold that may be while jumping.
Any thoughts or insight? Will it be really uncomfortable, a little uncomfortable but worth it, not ideal but not a big deal, or not even worth any concern? 3/28/2011 4:14:14 PM |
