^ YHF is my favorite. i can give you "radio cure" and maybe "reservations." outside of a couple songs on AGIB a lot of it is kinda meh in my opinion.

I know it's out of character for me to be pointlessly declarative on matters of opinion, but Being There is the best Wilco album. Period.

^^ not really gonna try and argue that. i just find YHF more interesting. "dreamer in my dreams" is probably my favorite wilco song though.

Summerteeth is about as perfect as a straight ahead alt country rock pop whatever album can get. Being There kinda drags a bit in the second disc.

Pretty much all my favorite songs from ages 15-19 can be found on those two albums, though.

On and on and on is my favorite dad rock era Wilco song. One Wing is probably the best dad rock era Wilco song.

Other than a few songs here and there, I can't remember Wilco ever being good. And I've given Wilco a serious try. Along similar lines, I can only think of a handful of songs from Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo, and even Lucero, but Wilco just doesn't speak to me.

I do like Whiskeytown and a few Ryan Adams albums however.

[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 8:34 PM. Reason : Lou Ford, not bad.]

sucks how much wilco has gone downhill in their last 2 albums since nels cline came along. at the same time the best songs on those albums are almost entirely because of what he brings to the table in my opinion.

I remember when they were Uncle Tupelo, and played the bar scene here (STL)... to mild success.

I've always liked a few Wilco songs, but could take or leave them in general. I have to say that all of the songs in the original post are pretty decent at minimum, and a couple of them are really good. I Got You (At the End Of the Century) is great...I'd never heard that one before, and I really like it.

wow, I have to say I have a newfound appreciation for Wilco after checking out some of the songs in this thread.

their newer stuff is mostly pretty boring and mediocre, in my opinion. My favorite song out of their material I'd previously checked out (Say You Miss Me) is, no surprise, an older song.

I'll have to give some more of their older stuff a listen.

what're some other good, old, Wilco songs?

I have about 10 of their songs now...I'm hoping that they have more really awesome stuff that I just haven't found yet. They certainly have plenty of songs that just suck.

Just get Being There and Summerteeth -- that's three albums worth of mostly great stuff. "ELT" and "A Shot in the Arm" are both on Summerteeth. I don't see any good videos for either, but they're two of my favorite Wilco easy rockers. I don't think they play ELT live much these days, but ASINA is great live.

You'd probably also like the stuff they did with Billy Bragg, writing music to lost Woody Guthrie lyrics.

edit: here's New Wilco playing Shot in the Arm
