Average age is 27. Not talking about marrage - but single at 27? Something up with that.
Currently the average age at marriage in the US is 26.8 years for men, and 25.1 years for women.

I'm 26....and picky. I also don't want to get married before I'm financially stable. I'm starting my career and about to purchase a house. I'm thinking I might tie the knot a little before 30...but wouldn't be alarmed if that didn't happen.
I've also had a blast dating in my early and mid-20s. I've dated some awesome and very interesting girls. I really like the girl I'm with right now...but wouldn't be too disappointed if I had to be single again.3/10/2010 9:18:20 AM |

And that's skewed a lot by dumb rednecks and fat kids who fall in love in college for the first time and don't think they'll ever find anybody else to like them.
I think if they did the averages for people with college degrees, it might add a year or two to those numbers.3/10/2010 9:20:16 AM |

Quote : | "Women who get married before the age of 25 make up about 64 percent of all divorces in the U.S. On the other hand, women who get married in their late twenties make up only 16 percent of the divorces. This means that any woman who gets married before she turns 25 is about four times more likely to get a divorce. (Women in their 30s have even better odds of staying married.)
Men have similar numbers, though they are somewhat more likely to get divorced if they marry before 30. [divorcerate.org]
Couples with higher education and higher income are less likely to have marriage problems. (People everywhere must be wondering what genius came up with the research grant to study this.) But, let’s look at some of the stats related to divorce within the first 10 years of marriage:
* Any amount of college decreases the chance of divorce by 13 percent * An income over $50,000 decreases the chance of divorce by 30 percent * Couples with an income under $25,000 have a 50 percent chance of ending up getting divorced. [divorce360.com]

i, too enjoy sleeping alone (see the thread on bed real estate allocation).
My wife's had a nasty respiratory infection that keeps her coughing all night for the last week, so i've been sleeping in our guest bedroom so I'm not waking up every 5 minutes. Having the space to spread out has been pretty awesome.
I wouldn't mind going back to what they did in the 1930's and having separate beds. you'd just alternate which bed you have sex on, and then retreat to your own bed after the fact. that would be badass.
I don't think my wife will go for this, however.

I have only dated one guy where I actually enjoyed sharing a bed with him. He didn't sweat or snore in his sleep. Or smother me in fat or poke me with bony elbows.
It's really hard to find someone who won't disturb your sleep. I used to sneak out of bed in the middle of the night when I lived with my ex just so I could get a peaceful nap on the couch. 3/10/2010 9:42:39 AM |

I've never had a problem with a bed mate. I've had a few "cover-stealers", but that's about it. One girlfriend did have a dog that always jumped in bed and wanted to sleep on top of you...which was really annoying.
Aside from the occasional drunk-snoring...I'm pretty easy to sleep with as well. I do not move at all when I sleep...once I'm out, I'm set in stone. 3/10/2010 9:45:54 AM |

^ My ex would want to wrap his arms and legs around me super tight, but he was a little overweight and he would drench me with sweat. It was the biggest turnoff. And then he would smell gross bc he'd been sweating in his sleep all night.

I hope this helps du tout! 3/10/2010 9:46:19 AM |

I do that as well....sometimes I'll wake up in the middle or after it has happend. It's called "sleep sex" or "sexsomnia":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_sex
I think I have a "mild" case of it. I was alerted to it by a girl I had recently hooked up with. She called me a couple days later and was like, "I was watching Oprah and she was talking about 'sleep sex', and I think you have it." So I looked it up.
Although it hasn't happened in a long time...for little while there it was a consistent "problem" 3/10/2010 10:00:24 AM |

my only problem with sharing a bed is that girls always want it so damn hot at night, i can't sleep when its hot. i'm perfectly happy turning a fan on when the thermostat is at 60 in the winter, i want to be able to get comfy under my blankets and not toss and turn under a sheet in a hot-ass room. generally the way things work with any girl i date are that blankets get divided and i sleep with just a sheet because i would probably sweat my ass off sleeping under blankets with the thermostat at 75 or whatever temp she tries to move it to. 3/10/2010 10:05:14 AM |
