Probably a baby anaconda. Yep...that, or a cobra.

^ They're pretty close to it; especially the older ones it seems like. Google image search is a wonderful thing.

Fl Cottonmouths tend to be a little darker than our eastern cottonmouths. As for the original picture in question: Here is something that can be clearly seen by even the most unexperienced in the copperhead picture and the picture in question a copperheads light saddles are widest on their backbone the N. Watersnake dark saddles are widest along the backbone. However, I have spent a significant portion of my life (both professionally and as a hobby) in the field dealing with both venomous and non-venomous snakes. THAT SNAKE IS NOT A COPPERHEAD/COTTONMOUTH

"^ha. no, i just have to work around them all the time in the east (surveying around wetlands, for example). i just don't like snakes, they will scare the shit out of you, and some of them are very aggressive. so, fuck you."
You are stupid. A: snakes are NOT AGGRESSIVE they bite out of fear because to them you are a large predator they are not "out to get you". If you are afraid of them maybe you should get a different job.

Yeah they think of a boat as just another log in the water. All you have to do is make sure they see you and they will bolt.

looks like i struck a sweet spot with adder. well, i like my job, i just don't like snakes. and your crazy if you think i'm going to let a rattlesnake (or really any other snake for that matter) roam around my yard with my kid playing. screw that...i'm not going to 'shoe' the snake away, the snake is going to die. the only snake i may let slide is a chicken snake. any other snake has a death wish if it rolls across my path. in my opinion, they are just about as important as fire ants. and i'll kill them bitches to.

You are an ignorant dumbfuck. You illustrated the point yourself by comparing a snake to an INVASIVE SPECIES. Good job being a stereotype . Guess what, your neighbor/ road/ household appliances/ lighting/ chemicals/ house plants all pose much more of a threat to your precious children. What are you going to do about that?
Oh and you are passing on your ignorance to your kids. Good job buddy, good job.

I'm going to keep killing large snakes when I find them, but I do plan to grill and eat them now that I know the venom is all within an inch of their head.

A Facebook friend just posted a picture of a snake and asked what kind it was. First response was "Were u near water?? The reason I ask is it looks like a water moccasin to me but could be cottonmouth. Poisonous by the shape of the head from what I can tell of the picture."

OP replies no, not near water.

"I still say it looks like a water moccasin/cottonmouth."

FYI the picture is of a baby black snake.

Also, this bitch said it's a good thing my friend didn't step on it, because the baby snake's momma is close by, like it's a goddamn bear or something.

i've had a few exceptionally ignorant folks tell me that you should kill all snakes because they're now interbreeding and pretty much any of them could be venomous

It's true.

But what you really have to watch out for are the anaconda/water moccasin crosses. They'll kill you with their bite and then eat you alive!

4^ You are so ballsier than me! I wouldn't pick up the black racer I found in my shrubs this week... and I certainly wouldn't handle a Cottonmouth. (I assume that's what that is)
