LOL, D-Wade is the third best player in the league easily but he's not on the same planet as LBJ and Howard right now.

Kobe in the regular season this year was behind several guys... even guys like G.Wallace and Josh Smith. We'll see if he turns it back on for the playoffs but my guess is he's really just fallen off that far.

Basketball players typically peak at 25. The best can usually sustain that peak until 28 or so and then they start falling off. That's just the way it is... Kobe is 31 I think, it's all downhill from here.

He's still the third best SG that's ever played but he's never getting to #1 or #2, sorry.

P.S. I'm switching to Denver in 7 since Kirilenko has been ruled out for the series.

Starting to wish I took Miami. Boston had the better numbers over the course of the season, but Miami was much better in the 2nd half. I was thinking Boston was probably resting guys a lot for the playoffs, but in reality their big three really does look washed up. KG is still good, but he's not KG. If Boston wants to win this series they need Rondo to put them on their back b/c KG can't do it anymore and Pierce/Allen aren't really even good anymore.

Jordan is the clear cut #1, Drexler clear cut #2, and Kobe clear cut #3.

Kobe would have to perform at the level he's at now for another ~6-7 years to catch Drex which is not going to happen.

Just double checked and yes based on how far Kobe has fallen off this year, he really has no shot of surpassing Drexler. Still a great career, just important to put things in perspective sometimes.

I'm not saying Clyde is/was better than Kobe...but I don't think some of ya'll remember how good he was (or are too young to remember).

If he had played on the Knicks or Lakers instead of the Blazers, he'd get a lot more pub as being one of the best ever. He was nasty.

Oh...and from last night...

Surprised at how well Denver played. They're so bi-polar. Wade and the Heat stunk it up in the 2nd half last night. Boston is not that good. KG should/will probably get suspended for another game because of that elbow he threw at Q. Brandon Jennings is nasty. Pretty much the only reason the Bucks were even in the game last night. Chicago played better than I thought. Cleveland looked like they were going through the motions.

Because Chicago already had Hinrich and Rose. Gordon was a great scorer, but high scoring shooting guards are a dime a dozen and he played absolutely no defense. Hinrich is a stopper and he doesn't take away from Rose's development like Gordon's ball-hogging would have.

Nobody cares about Detroit. So who cares if Gordon starts or not.

I would be absolutely shocked if Garnett didn't miss Game 2. That second elbow was vicious and caught Q right in the chops. It didn't look like anyone else involved did anything to warrant a suspension, but you never know with Stern.

lol at Q's quote

Quote :
""I don't have any business talking to [Pierce]; he was on the ground crying. I don't know what was going on -- two actresses over there, that's what they are.""

Also, Bogut's "cast" is ridiculous. It's covering his entire arm. Looks like he's about to get fitted for some cyborg arms like Jax from Mortal Kombat.

It doesn't surprise me that you guys don't know that Drexler was better than Kobe because you're so young, but that doesn't make it untrue.

http://www.wagesofwins.com/KobeDrexler.html

Clyde's CAREER averages are still better than Kobe's and that doesn't take into account Kobe's inevitable decline years that will lower his numbers even further.

Kobe's never even posted more than 18 wins in a season or even stuck out really

http://www.wagesofwins.com/BestSG78-09.html
Quote :
"
Table Two reports the 50 best performances – in terms of Wins Produced — by a shooting guard in the since the 1977-78 season. As one can see, the top seven slots in the list are held by Michael Jordan. And Kobe’s very best season doesn’t appear until the 27th slot. In all, Kobe appears three times on the list while MJ shows up 10 times. So Jordan was much better than Kobe. And really, the difference is very large (a point made back in 2007).

Kobe is also not number two on the list. Clyde Drexler appears four times before Kobe shows up the first time. Overall, eight of Drexler’s seasons rank in the top 50 overall.

When we look at career Wins Produced, we see – as the following list indicates — that Kobe currently ranks 4th among shooting guards who started their career after 1977.

¦Michael Jordan: 283.6
¦Clyde Drexler: 222.8
¦Reggie Miller: 162.9
¦Kobe Bryant: 149.0
Again, the difference between Kobe and MJ is huge (and Kobe is never going to close the difference). It does seem likely, though, that Kobe will surpass Reggie Miller. But he needs to produce more than 60 additional wins to catch Drexler. And Kobe is already 31 years old. Yes, MJ did produce more than 70 wins after the age of 31. But as has already been noted, Kobe is no MJ; and it doesn’t look like Kobe is Clyde the Glide either.
"

[Edited on April 18, 2010 at 1:18 PM. Reason : add]

You guys are confusing talent for productivity. Kobe has immense talent, he's just never lived up to all the hype surrounding him to figure out how to become a dominant basketball player. He's benefitted from playing on great teams and by playing at high level for a very long time.

Similar to Win Shares in baseball if you're familiar with them. Good stats but if you're going to use a stat like that on a website like TWW you better explain it first.

fisher is a useful veteran playoff time. he would be on the jazz if it wasnt for the lakers. he came to the lakers because thats where his daughters doctor lives.

the lakers could easily put kobe at 1 artest at 2 odom at 3

Durant is playing terrible and they are still hanging around. He should be better once he gets this first playoff game under his belt. I think OKC can win 2 games in this series still.

6-19 FG and 7-12 FT along with 2 reb, 3 ast, and 2 TO.

Another signature Kobe performance.

But I guess, he's just waiting for the playoffs to start trying.

just let me know when i should start judging Kobe.

As if the last twelve seasons isn't enough.

He will go down as the #3 SG to ever play the game, that's a great accomplishment.

Just don't act like he's a dominant NBA player like Duncan and Garnett were and Lebron and Howard are and we can live in harmony.

he can strike anytime when they need him. when he's on, hes better than all others when they are on. He's learned its best to play through his team until they need a finisher instead of trying to get a triple double every night.

right, he has learned it's better to let the other guys on his team take high percentage shots than for him to continue taking low percentage shots.

The good news is it only took 1 playoff game for Gerald Wallace to establish the fact that he's better than Kobe Bryant in 2010.

No arguments unless you wanna be the guy who sides with Mamba.

in order for rally to respect how good Kobe is, like 99.9% of the rest of basketball fans do, he would have to either get busted for fighting dogs or get picked right behind Mario Williams in the NFL Draft

Brandon Jennings was terrible this season, what are you talking about?

Jennings might be good one day if he gets his act together but he rode Bogut, Delfino, and Mbah-Moute's back into the postseason.

Just because he had one good game in the playoffs I'm not just going to disregard his entire season's ugly body of work.

The difference is Jennings had a pretty bad season (a monumentally TERRIBLE one if you take out the first 25 games).

Kobe was his usual self all season.

Wallace was a beast all season.

So yeah, if Wallace crushes Kobe all year and the Kobe loving weirdos stick by him because he "always tunes it up for the playoffs" (which isn't true if you look at his playoff numbers which mirror his regular season numbers) and then Wallace crushes Kobe again in the playoffs then I'll take the correct side of the argument.

Durant sucked today, but I doubt he sucks all series.

On the other hand, I'll bet Kobe continues being a good but not great player for the entire playoffs.
