The firing squad is a great way to execute anyone. Lethal Injection has some horror stories associated with it when performed on former junkies or people with poor blood pressure and bad veins.

Apparently the executioners take precautions now to prevent your involuntary defecation from being noticeable. They wouldn't want the witnesses to say that the murder was messy.

Actually, I have a bidet

well, it's not really a bidet. I just pay some homeless guy a wage of $10 a day to follow me around. When I take a poop, he'll run over to the sink, get a mouthful of water, and spit it out on my duff after I've finished....

^A big part of me agrees...

Some of us air guitar and some of us fantasize about semi-righteous murder sprees.

I do both.

I'd prefer a convict on death row to face the firing squad vs. lethal injection, so doctors wouldn't be forced to break the Hippocratic Oath. ...since doctors do have to be on scene, if not participating in lethal injection executions.

^That's a good point.

For those of us who are against the death penalty (like myself), it makes sense to restrict it to lethal injection, so we can use the Hippocratic business to block it.

You're very smart, eli.

wat would be cool is to have like a rura penti penal colony way up in Alaska where ppl can be in prison without any staff or facilities. guess that not satisfy vengeancefags or govtspendingfags.

that is assuming Death by Cake was not an option.

i got bitten on the hand by about a 9' python. it's not too bad...like a whole bunch of pin pricks.

"I've heard that every guy but one has a live bullet, so they all know that they might have gotten the blank"

I've never fired a blank from anything more powerful than an M-16 (well, I take that back...I've fired them once from a 240G on a bipod, but...it was heavy and on a bipod), but I'm pretty sure that it would be obvious from the recoil whether or not you had a blank or a live round.

Regardless, I'm fine with the death penalty (though it's not a really hot button issue for me), but I think that the executioner(s) should be chosen at random from the jurors who tried the case. You know, to hold chickenshit jurors accountable.

Quote :
"You would think the state would want more folks to choose to be killed by the firing squad. I bet it would save the state a ton of money. A handfull of bullets is a lot cheaper than paying doctors to inject someone and do it correctly. I bet there are some militia folks in Utah that would volunteer to pull the trigger, so you wouldn't have to pay those folks either."

I mean, I'd do it for free, depending on who the convicted person was and what he did. Regardless, out of all the costs associated with a death penalty case...all the prosecution, all the appeals, etc, the difference in the cost of the actual act of execution itself is negligible.

On top of the fact that if we're going to take someone's life for his crime(s), a 0.01% cost savings isn't something that needs to be a deciding factor.

It's my understanding that the firing squad is composed of five LEOs from the county where the crime was committed.

I don't agree. You get shot in the torso with firing squads, which is not going to produce results like a movie. Yeah, you'll die very quickly (Maybe even lose consciousness in just a few seconds if it's a good hit) and you'll be incapacitated pretty much instantly if it's a good hit, but it wont be instantaneous "off switch" like getting shot in the head, generally speaking. You should still have a small amount of time to contemplate it son.

I think I would prefer a firing squad also.

I'd much rather go down standing up, than lying on my ass tied to the bed.

^ I'm pretty sure you get tied up anyways, sitting down against a chair flanked by sandbags to absorb the bullets.

I mean if it's just 5 guys shooting him, then he probably will feel it for a few seconds or so before becoming incapacitated by the pain.

tough shit, as far as I'm concerned

this dude is a murderer...I don't approve of torturing him, but if he feels a couple bullets hit him in the few seconds before he dies, then all the better, say I

just because it can't be cruel and unusual, that doesn't mean it has to be absolutely painless

I don't think that an explosion of pain immediately before death is particularly offensive or cruel. Shit happens all the time.

And if the person requested it, all the better.

I think I'd like to be electrocuted, being an electrical engineer.

no, it's done by professional executioners who are trained marksmen.

not some volunteer vigilante ;who also happens to carry a badge.

EDIT: egads, is that saab turbo? what an ugly 12-year-old.

Judging by the manner of his crime, I'd say Gardner was a relic from the State's Wild West past.
