whats wrong with solas? Its a great place to go if youre trying to have a big night out and are into the upscale club style scene.

Solas is great if you've got a thing for cougars.

[Edited on May 21, 2010 at 2:38 PM. Reason : It's got a lot more redeemable qualities than Boylan Street Brewpub at least.]

Chemistry is opening at the corner of Harrington and Davie next to the Pit. Its an interesting concept, apparently coffee shop by day and bar/club at night - already being marketed at LBGT friendly.

CAM is slated to open next spring at Martin and West St.

The old Joe's Place is being renovated as a new bar/restaurant.

The big problem is that the TTA bought the two blocks on the western side of West St and is just sitting on them as empty warehouse space while they wait for federal money for their light rail system (they can't seem to get their shit straight). Five Star is the only place open there. Basically Dillon Supply is the only thing that goes on there during the day, so the only thing drawing people there is a couple of shitty nightclubs.

Boylan Bridge always looks chill with the happy hour folks when I go to pick up my ring at PP (not an abortion clinic, mambagrl).

You can tell a lot about a person by the bars they frequent...

My favorites are:

Saucer - You can't beat the selection anywhere in town and I'm a sucker for miniskirts.

Times - Great if you can get there early and grab a table outside. Easily the best people watching in town. Good selection but overpriced.

Boylan Bridge - The best view in Raleigh with decent beer. A bit too hoppy for me, but if that is your style...

Oxford - Good music

Natty Greens - Decent food, great beer
