I stopped watching lost a few episodes into season 2.

I heard on the news this morning that the big secret revealed in the finale was that the castaways were all dead and the island was really purgatory.

If that's true, then I pretty much predicted this back in 2004 (message_topic.aspx?topic=248630&page=9#5479338), so I'm glad I didn't waste 100+ hours of my life watching this show.

This came from GMA, not a printed article. Perhaps I misunderstood what was said, or perhaps what was said was inaccurate. Either way, I am still glad I didn't waste my time watching this show.

yes, but I don't see those as a waste of my time (at least not yet) because they don't drag me along and then end with questions unanswered (at least they haven't yet....I do watch Fringe which is another JJ Abrams project, so it's possible...). I wouldn't be too happy if I had watched Lost for 6(?) seasons and then still didn't understand the show (which is what I've heard most people who watched it say) when it was all over.

Yeah I don't really understand your point. You sound like one of those people who dismisses something just because it's popular and says, "HEH, I don't watch that piece of shit show, you sheeple."

^^what you said is incorrect, and you missed a lot of good tv by not watching. i watched all seasons and i understand what happened just fine. these people who don't are people who aren't going to understand shows like fringe or 24 or whatever either.

i agree, this does sound more like one of those omgit'spopularsoihavetohateit kind of things.

I, for one, think Lost is probably a pretty damn good show. I'm not spending hours trying to catch up on 6 years worth of episodes to find out though. Lost people love to talk about Lost which is really annoying when you're the only person who doesn't know anything about the show. I can think of two occasions recently where the Lost discussion took over a group conversation. Your best bet if this happens is to find the other person who looks bored out of his or her mind and start a side conversation not related to Lost.

The popularity of the show is not my reason for not watching it. I watch several popular shows. I stopped watching Lost because I just wasn't enjoying it. No idea idea if I would have understood Lost had I continued watching it, but I watch Fringe and I understand it just fine.

I don't think anyone who watched Lost is a "sheeple" (to use your word) for watching it or think badly of them for spending their time watching it -- I'm just glad I didn't spend my time watching 6 seasons of it. I have wasted plenty of time watching other shows...

i really dont think you actually watched this show as pretty much all of these questions were answered throughout the years...did you expect them to come out in the last episode and just repeat all the things we already knew??

i dont even feel like messing with the bitchfest that is the entertainment thread, BUT

i will say that while i think the whole pre-afterlife side-flash storyline was bunk, i did enjoy the ending

kind of bothers me that half of the last season was a wasted narrative just to lead it up to a sappy ending

yet i LOVED the ending so I'll forgive the storyline

outside of that i feel that most of the legitimate questions from "reality" were answered

sort of boils down to why you watched lost, characters vs. island, i feel the people who only watched it for the crazy sci-fi story arches maybe got gypped, sucks to be you guys

At least somebody from the "other" side gets it. We spent 6 years trying to figure out what was going on, and it turns out that wasn't the story that was getting told.

honestly, i don't understand how anyone could spend 6 years watching lost and think the island was the most important part when the writers were saying "characters characters characters" for years, not only in interviews, but in the execution of the show itself. the only thing i hate about LOST is that it's making me one of those people who constantly has to say "you didn't get it," but fuck, if you're one of the people who fits into this description, you didn't fucking get it.

and i'm about to watch season 6 over again. i was pretty underwhelmed by it the whole time, but i think it'll be a lot better now that i've seen the finale.
