so I guess he's gonna do like what he did last year and play baseball in a summer league and then come back for camp in August.

Honestly I think he stays next year to play football. I know the 4th round is high (and ridiculously high considering the type of season Russell Wilson had on the diamond), but if he is still saying he's playing football then I believe him. It was pointed out on 99.9 today that if he were to make an NFL roster for 3 years at league minimum at some position then he'd still make more than if he were to toil around the minors for 10 years. If I were Russell I'd see how FB season goes and maybe even give the CFL a look, he has just been that much better at FB than baseball. He's got to sign by sometime in August though so he's got to determine if he:

1) Wants to go now.
2) Wants to sign, but play football.
3) Not sign and either decide to try and play professional football.
4) Play football and then hope to get a starting spot on the baseball team and improve his draft stock.

Congrats Russell and I hope you choose whatever will ultimately benefit you in the long run.

^^ I think he'd have to get the Rockies to agree to it and maybe structure his contract around it some kind of way. The Washington QB is also doing it this year if I remember correctly.

"But I don't think there is any question, based on several conversations this afternoon, that he intends to play football." They already have two former college quarterbacks in their starting lineup and possibly another on the way. Seth Smith, a current starting outfielder for the Rockies, was an All-America baseball player and the backup quarterback to Eli Manning at Mississippi. Wilson has been the Wolfpack's starter under center since 2008, when he became the first freshman quarterback in ACC history to win first-team all-conference honors. He threw 17 touchdowns and just one interception in that inaugural campaign, leading his team to the Papajohns.com Bowl. Last season, he threw 31 touchdown passes and set an NCAA record for consecutive passes without an interception. Well, iirc from his defense two seasons ago what worked best was "try to get Nate Irving as close to the ball carrier as possible and see what happens"

So as long as Nate Irving stays healthy we might have an average defense.

No pressure on Mr. Irving though, none at all.

Yes, I suppose there was a brief moment there before our D was completely exposed. Once exposed all a team had to do was watch 10 minutes of video to learn how to take us apart. Luckily for us our coaching staff adjusted instead of just following the same plan game after game.

Wake: Skinner had 361 passing yards. The only thing the defense stopped was the rushing yards, or maybe that was WF's decision to just not rush the ball since they were passing for an average of almost 12 yards per completion.

FSU: I watched a different FSU game I guess. FSU put up 45 points in the one that I watched.

VT: 200 yards passing, 200 yards rushing. 22 yards passing per completion. Go defense?

UNC: We gave up nearly 500 yards.

We may not have given our opponents the absolute best game of their entire collegiate careers but I'm sure we padded some stats.

FSU: scored 54 against BYU.

VT: Scored 48 against BC w/ 441 yards, and scored 42 against UVA w/ 483 yards. They scored 38 w/ 397 yards against us.

UNC: Scored more points against BC, Miami, and ECU.
