yellow diamonds are hit or miss

Even sheer size won't make up for that hideous setting, or the yellow diamonds set in yellow gold.

Color.

Silver won't hold up.
Platinum and palladium are much more expensive.

If you do white gold, you get the color desired, with necessary durability, that fits a wider range of budgets.

It's platinum, not white gold.

White gold is not totally white, so to give it a shiny white look it is plated with rhodium (in the platinum family of metals)
