Here is the thing: her ex was also her best friend. They were from the same town, went to the same HS, and were then in the same college and were practically taking the same courses.

So while she was trying to get over him, she was also spending 90% (literally) of her waking hours with him (and perhaps 50% with me).

Once I did ask her what her intentions were. She said she didn't want to date anybody at that moment, and that she was still deciding who to choose (her ex or me). I was there for a year only (my senior year, her sophomore year) and even when I graduated, she still hadn't gone back to him. And I have no clue what happened after... lost complete touch.

So yeah, as I said, bad timing.
