Exactly. I like that song. It reminds me of really great memories. I like playing it on my guitar. I like singing it with other people. I like going to The Dockhouse and sitting out on the waterfront drinking a beer and hearing the acoustic whoever is there performing do that song.

You know, not all songs that you listen to have to be masterpieces. Sometimes songs can just put you in a good mood.

I saw CCD at Bonnaroo with some friends who were really into them, and I couldn't get into it. I don't hate it, but it's not something I want to necessarily hear again.

^^ i agree

but that song does not put me in a good mood

it makes me think of similar songs that are superior (like "oh my sweet carolina")

yeah when i was driving down to nc from here last.. idk.. fall or so was when i heard them first on npr

and a few weeks prior on the backporch show that the wunc has/d on friday nights, they had a live set

i was really intrigued by the back story, and how they presented their approach to the music, but it was like... after 6 hours in the car anything refreshing would have been intriguing

the more i listened, the more it was just kinda.. trying.

i wonder if we listened to the same spot

Yeah, I just never understood why people will make such a huge fuss over letting everyone know how awful they think that song is.

if you want to hear a completely god awful version of wagon wheel,

at bonnaroo this weekend ocms showed up

i was watching mumford and sons on the webcast, and ocms, mumford and sons, gillian welch played wagon wheel into a huge cluster fuck

im sure a youtube of that abortion exists

(and i kinda like mumford and sons?)

because people fawn over it

and a lot of people who fawn over it are not music people

and the hate applied to that song becomes hyperbolic by way of how many superior songs there are

that said people have no awareness of

it's not the song's fault, really

^well just so you know, I'm the one who posted Ryan Adam's Oh My Sweet Carolina in this thread. So I am aware of other great songs.

Just like I say with Hanson. Just because I am a Hanson fan does not mean I have horrible taste in music.

I love some CCD, but I like Old Timey. One of my best friends who loves bluegrass just can't stand OT. To each their own.

Finally going through the top 100 list and fucking thrilled to see Townes Van Zandt, Robert Earl Keen and this made the 100 list:

Oh, you should see when the counselors at Lutheridge get together and sing Wagon Wheel. It is a masterpiece then. There are a ton of really talented musicians and singers up there. People play every instrument known to man and can harmonize you into an orgasm.

But then again that kinda goes for just about any song counselors at Lutheridge will sing.
