ah, good point...i did indeed make the jump from "in contact" to "hang out"

but my point still stands...there's no good reason to stay in contact with them (in most cases)...if i care enough, i can find out through mutual friends how they're doing, but staying in contact implies consistent communication (not "hey, it's been 5 years, how are you doing?")

you've seen high fidelity, yes? there are only one or two reasons you contact an ex out of the blue

other than that, which is also a bad idea, an ex is an ex for a reason, and nothing good comes out of maintaining a friendship with them (again, mark my difference between being "friends" and being "acquaintances")

I had an ex break up with me before I finished college and get married within 7 months of that breakup. She wanted to remain friends...

I stopped answering her texts and emails and completely cut her out of my life. I moved away, finished college at State, while he cheated on her and divorced her.

4 years went by and I got a call out of nowhere (I had changed my number, too) and she wanted to try it again and patch things up. Felt good to tell her "No Thanks".
