We originally left England for here in pursuit of the right to practice it the way we wanted.

We specifically put provisions into the constitution to make sure that religion/government did not mix

We had some of the most brilliant, atheistic, minds of our nation put the whole thing together.

I often wonder why people don't think Agnostics and Atheists are patriotic. I just don't like that they seem to only go after Christianity. Why not attack the Jews and Muslims I guess maybe they figure Christians only blow up abortion clinics so as long as they don't run one of them they are safe.

Look, I don't disagree with the overall point of this thread...but the only thing more annoying than an evangelical bible-thumber is an evangelical atheist. Live and let live, dude. If it was 1950 or whenever and the argument was being made for adding "Under God" to the pledge, I would take your side...but at this point, I get more irritated at people who get bent out of shape about it and make it a big deal.

Furthermore, I think that posting billboards like that on the Billy Graham Parkway, and then you making a thread about it on the 4th of July, is in somewhat poor taste.

But unless they're saying everyone should be an atheist, or accept the virtues of atheism, then it's not evangelism -- it's political. This is a political issue. (the mixture of church and state)... not a push for atheism.
