it happened before, but what happened then was that I e-mailed the girl after the semester ended, she agreed to meet me for coffee, we met for coffee, and it went nowhere. As often happens. It wasn't quite a miserable failure, tho.

Still undecided even after this thread...just gonna take it day by day, and hope to see her sitting at a table along the route to the math building. Will definitely strike up a conversation w/ her and go from there. But not gonna venture on illegal territory unless it seems absolutely warranted. Thanks TDub for all the insight and if I ever actually date her (knock) I will post pics.

Its abusing your position of power and not worth it.

I've said it before, don't creep on the girls in your classes. Hell you screwed over one of the last ones because you asked her out after she came to your office hours for MATH HELP and she stopped coming. You hurt the girl's academic endeavors and shouldn't be a TA with this attitude.

you should consider taking it up a notch. the day of the next test you give after everyone is in the room and you pass out the test announce that you are asking her out, adding that everyone will get extra credit if she does. be sure to point out the extra credit question added at the end of the test: "why should ____ go out with jeffrey? please give at least three reasons, citing specific evidence." why take a chance when you can have (3*class size) facts to point to? when she doesn't leap into your arms right then and there while everyone is sitting there staring at you in stunned silence, play it off as a joke. "oh golly, you didn't think i was serious, did you? why, that would be one of the most unprofessional things imaginable."
