maybe you could get a job at FLETC in Brunswick, GA
my cousin is an instructor there

that's close to Jacksonville, FL

I know its way on the other side of the panhandle but I don't know where your daughter lives in FL

So you mean Duke will be like 5 hours away instead of 15?

I'm surely to hit it now

Congrats on the decision...My daddy got out of the military when I was in 2nd grade. I only remember the fun parts, but I'm sure it sucked having a family and having those demands. All his franns are like generals in the army tho I'm like damn that could have been my daddy

Don't worry though, I'll make sure to stop by when your daughter is at her mom's for the night.

Is the mom still "irritable" to you and the daughter?

^^^My dad got out in about 2001 or so, and a lot of his old school buddies are getting up to be colonels and shit now. One guy is up to become a general soon and my dad's story about him was all "Man, he was like an annoying little brother you get to do anything you want. We would be parting in a bar tell him 'Hey ____, do the fire thing' and the guy would be all 'alright', take a swig of liquor, and blow a plume of fire using a lighter."

He likely could be up there now too, but he got out to get hired by a sub contractor. Better life decision overall for the family.

good luck man.. from what i hear baby mama dramma only gets worse.

i had a friend who's baby momma told every girl she ever met near him they still sleep together and then one day she effectively kidnapped the kid. which was probably the best thing that ever happened to him because she's now lost custody and has to have numerous psych evaluations before she can get it back.

You live in gulf breeze, right? That'd be a perfect place for me to live, but I doubt I can do school transportation from there. We'll see.

Man, my daughter said earlier, totally out of the blue, "My mommy is mean."

"How is she mean?"

"She yells a lot."

"At you?"

"Yeah, and she slaps baby -----'s hand. [her ~9 month old half-sister)

"Does daddy ever yell?"

"No."

"Does your mommy yell at -----?" (her husband)

"No, just me."

This is the 3rd time she's made essentially the same statements, completely out of the blue.

Of course, every now and then when she's tired, doesn't get her way, and gets really upset, she'll start crying "I want my mommy"

^Thats good. One of my buddies who was in the service has a son with his ex who is now remarried and lives on the other side of the country. She has his son most of the time and my friend found out that the new hubby has multiple DWIs and some assault and other charges. Mommy thinks its funny that his son calls the other guy "Daddy Ben" or whatever his name is and now my friend is Daddy and his first name. He was like no fuck that, I'm his only dad. She is a total bitch.

BABY MAMA DRAMA FTMFL.

Yeah, mine calls him by his first name and calls me "Daddy". To her credit, her mom does enforce that.

Dude, that reminds me of one night when I was standing watch for the group, and I got a call about a Sergeant in one of the squadrons. His ex wife was living down in TX with their son (I think it was a boy, anyway...been a long time), and went to go spend the night at her boyfriend's house. She brought the kid with her, and he had a pool in the backyard that wasn't really secured (he didn't have any kids, I assume, and would have no reason to). The kid got up in the middle of the night and wandered outside, and ended up drowning in the pool.

his is what scares me about the military. My grandpa on my moms side and my dad were marines in their hayday. both had long careers and very successful and the families did fine but it wasnt that easy. my mom and dad had problems but stuck through it and im grateful they never got divorced or had problems for that. I dont believe in divorce but i do believe in a shotgun if i catch her doing shit. however, im just afraid from seeing so many people have issues with the military life that it could cause a divorce between me and a future wife.

I told myself i would get out when i didnt have fun anymore, when i didnt love what i was doing OR
i would get out for my family. im sure if i got offered an amazing job flying helicopters for the FBI or CIA or NSA or any other group, that i would just do it if the offer was good enough.

but idk, my career is just starting and i have a long way to go before i have to augment.

Yeah, I'm augmented and all that stuff. My gripes are mostly not with the broader USMC...I think the goods outweigh the bads there. I don't care for my specific community at all, though.

yea, i definitely have been very annoyed by some of the stupid shit in the training command here. However, its fun a lot of times. I definitely want to get to the fleet and start the real career. I wing most likely the end of august and hopefully what i end up with is good. all we hear about is whether the guys in a community are dicks or laid back.
