by not being played anymore

if you want changes that will result in higher interest among americans then you need less flops, stopped time after goals & such, more scoring, more accurate officiating

yeh. WE CAN'T STOP THE CLOCK IN SOCCER. IT, IT, IT JUST WON'T WORK. MY GOD THE HORROR FROM STOPPING A CLOCK!

If you're just going for "less boring", then I stand firmly behind the Multi-Ball Bonus idea.

allow full contact outside of the goal box. Instead of a bunch of 170lb lanky athletes flopping and faking injuries, you'd end up with a team of 220lb linebackers impaling each other while fighting for the ball. They'd also be able to set up screens and other offensive strategies to make scoring more prevalent.

"athletes"I think you mean "the guys who run track but aren't fast enough to actually be competitive in track"[Edited on July 11, 2010 at 9:20 PM. Reason : fixed]

don't worry guys, i've forwarded a link to this thread to Sepp Blatter's email address and i'm sure he'll take note of everybody's suggestions first thing monday morning.

I'm American and therefore often feel entitled like everyone else on here, but I always lol when people suggest why "soccer is not working" and how we could fix it, as if those who actually like the sport really give a shit about your problem with soccer. But, please, continue.

the losing team must diegives a whole new meaning to sudden death
7/11/2010 9:51:59 PM
How could you tell they were actually dead? Most of them are flopping around dead on the ground during the game anyways lolololooloolollol
7/11/2010 9:53:55 PM
trueat least its not a bunch of failed figure skaters who werent tough enough for football
7/11/2010 9:56:00 PM
Yeah, tell me about it. Hockey players are total pussies. Only NFL & NBA players are real athletes.

The goal is already 24 feet wide.Maybe they should just find people who are actually talented at kicking a ball instead.[Edited on July 11, 2010 at 10:45 PM. Reason : .]

def not hating on the cup or soccer...played soccer myself for 6 years before a hammy injury took me out and I became more focused on dancing.but the thing I was taught, the acting and flopping to draw a penalty...I KNOW it's a big thing, I did it myself once and felt dirty after...it just drives me crazy. it drives me crazy in basketball. I fucking HATE acting.that is all.Sorry for Holland. I was pullin' for ya.But David Villa is hot...so yay Spain

other than the americans coming out slow in every important game ever, i can't think of a game where guys don't play hard at the beginningtentative tactics and feeling each other out != not playing hardalso, the fundamental flaw in thinking when trying to "fix" soccer or hockey is that scoring = excitementa 127-102 basketball game is boring as shit
7/12/2010 3:10:26 AM
Goal line tech is the only thing i would change. Otherwise the game is pretty well designed. And I'm not really much of a soccer fan.

You guys do realize that MLS went through a period where they used a more American style clock that stopped on dead balls and counted down to 0:00 instead of up, with no stoppage time addded? Also they allowed more subs. Guess what, no one that hated soccer before started watching all of the sudden, and people who always loved soccer didn't like the rule changes. As a fan I don't mind that many Americans hate the sport. I mean most of the rest of the world thinks American football is stupid, so it all evens out. How many successful domestic American football leagues are there in the world compared to successful domestic soccer leagues? And how about the fact that 98% of the game is not played with your feet at all?
