^^^ Part of the reason we couldn't play for a championship in '73 was that DT stayed at a friend's dorm on a recruiting visit without being charged for rent. This is a different situation, but I really hope this 'friend' is a lot like the friend of UNC athletics that got the Ellington's a house.

it just seems ridiculous if they are saying that the players should have to pay rent for staying the night at someone's place. If they stayed there for weeks or months, then it might be a different story, but friends dont make friends pay to crash on couches

lol he isn't just "crashing on his couch." The question is how does Austin afford the trip to Miami, what is he doing down there, and what gifts did he receive?

Student-athletes can't receive benefits, that's the bottom line.

My understanding based on what they were saying this morning is that he played in a pick up game with an assistant coach or something like that, but the kicker was he had already committed to the school so the recruiting process was over by the time any of the alleged "recruiting infractions" occurred.

oh I know, theres more to it than what I said. Just from the two reports that I have heard so far it said a player stayed at Balmers house and they want to know if the player paid rent. I was just piecing the two stories together
