Gambit (dog) enjoys watching Banana (snake), and gives him kisses

Banana seems to have adjusted for the most part, but is still in hiding.. Gambit is on edge and barks at every damn sound >_> which I guess is a good thing considering I'm alone

^ need to take her out and about as much as possible to get her used to people.
Have people who get close to her sit or stand with their back to her so she can investigate them, have them not look her in the eyes, etc. She'll warm up soon

Sheppy has gotten alot better just from me taking him more places.

ya, problem is any time i take her out people want to approach her and she growls/barks at them

is it just a keep doing it and eventually she'll get over it kind of deal?

hmmm
it -should- go away, but it's not going to go away on it's own.

Start her out in a public place but not where people will approach her. can you go to a park and sit on the "sidelines" while there are people milling about? Get her used to all these people just being around, and then you can sit closer and closer. Then start with some easy, very mellow interactions with people and try and go from there.

But yeah you will want to break that habit before it get worse

Probably not with how she is now because unfortunately 99% of people (or children) won't ask if they can pet your dog and will just go for it with hands out, looking at her face and looming over. It will compound the problem. It's a shame because if you could do that with the people just walking around her and not paying attention, it would benefit her.

my dog is nervous of crowds. like if i take her on a walk down hillsborough street when people are out on the farmhouse and east village decks, its too noisy (cars) and too crowded (even with just people on the sidewalk by cup o joe) for her. she doesn't bark. she just gets scared and walks weird with her tail between her legs and kinda slinks along.

the only time she really barks at others is if she's in the car when i'm at a drive thru window, lol. i WISH she'd at least bark at the doorbell/knock on the door and noises in the night. instead she just gets excited and runs to see who it is.

The dog I live with is emotionless and just stares at me like I'm an asshole when I call his name. Does anyone want it?

i just eat/sell the eggs

but when they get old and stop laying eggs, i will not hesitate to wring their necks and throw them in the woods

how much do you sell your eggs for? how many eggs you get daily? we have 9 but atm only getting like 4 eggs a day

only 4 of them are of laying age, so i just get enough eggs for myself right now. the others have a few more weeks. was planning on selling for $1.25/doz.

about a 50% daily laying rate sounds about right during extremely warm times like we've had lately. do you feed a quality laying mash? do you feed them as much as they'll eat of it?

i feed them about a half gallon of feed every other day and then chips or bread from around the house on the other days

how do you plan on selling? i feel like I'm at that awkward position of getting too many eggs to consume but too few eggs to sell

household scraps and stuff like that are fine to supplement their diet, but laying mash is what's really going to make them lay. if the laying mash feeder is completely empty when you go to feed them again, then you're not feeding them enough. what breed(s) do you have?

i've had enough interest from neighbors and coworkers to sell my eggs i think

I have inherited omgyouresexy's chinchilla, Charlie. He is fucking awesome. And my roommate might have gotten him stoned last night by accident.

omg. my dog just came within an inch of being hit (and likely killed) by a car. holy shit. still shaking. and still not entirely convinced that she wasn't hit. i mean she looks fine and is acting fine but she did yelp and i'm scared she's like running on adrenaline or in shock. i mean she didn't fall down or anything so i don't think she got hit but holy crap.

she has to wear a harness from now on. she gets too scared by random shit on walks. her other collar she got scared and broke out of (like broke through the buckle) so i tried to get her a more durable one and she can back up and just slip it off her head. she has a harness, i just thought we were making so much progress with the fear. apparently not. harness stays on from now on.

sidenote: fucking soccer moms do not need to be going 50 miles per hour through our neighborhood. if she had been going 25mph there wouldn't be 8-10ft skid marks in the road from her slamming on the brakes. what if that was a little kid that ran out to get a ball? god. scary.

Is it Ok to season a dog's food with spices like salt, pepper, cajun seasoning, etc?

His food just seems so bland and I think he'd appreciate it if I kicked it up a notch

she hadnt been eating well, but was otherwise healthy. she had actually been slightly overweight and had gotten to a normal weight, but the major weight loss was in the last week.

she's 8, and the weight really started about 2 weeks ago. she does have resorptive lesions, meaning her teeth could be to blame. she actually ate a small amount for me and drank a decent amount as well.
