You just haven't had good tofu. I too used to think tofu was a bland block of nothingness until I had good tofu. And I don't mean gussied up in a sauce or something. Just straight up tofu dumped uncooked onto a plate.

I have a vegetarian girlfriend of 5+ years. I have tried tofu from half the places in Raleigh. If you have a recommendation I'll consider going there. While I won't personally order it there is a 75% chance that she will.

The best I've had is probably the Thai Peanut Noodles at 5 Star with tofu substituted for chicken. If you have a better recommendation I'll be glad to hear it.

All this talk of food is making me hungry...I might just head there tomorrow for the Yellowfin tuna.

Honestly the best tofu I've had has been in Thailand and Japan I'll have to try to find some decent tofu places when I'm back in Raleigh or learn how to use the tofu maker setting on my rice cooker.

Try the Thai Peanut Noodles at 5 Star. They're delish. And by delish I mean better than most tofu, but not as good as chicken.

I remember having a really good salad at the Cheesecake Factory once, but for how much it cost it should have been good.

I usually go to sweet tomatoes when I want a salad, but that's more because I enjoy their soups.

Mmm salad. I might get one for lunch tomorrow at either HT or WHole Foods.

If anyone is interested, I concocted a pretty decent salad last year that my family/fiance love. It's very similar to one I had at Mellow mushroom, but I tweaked a few key ingredients to fit my tastes:

mixed baby greens
cherry or grape tomatoes
mandarin oranges
feta
glazed walnuts or pecans
avocado
Poppy Seed Dressing (I like Brianna's brand)

Super nom nom

+1 for Nantucket grill. Had an amazing one there the other night. Spinach, strawberries, candied pecans, egg, bacon, chicken, and other stuff. Omg. Fantastic

My absolute favorite is the Stella Salad at 518 West.
I get cravings for this salad.
