HAND'S DOWN:
Early Girl Eatery
Tupelo Honey is good, but there's ALWAYS a wait, and I mean, it might be a little over-rated at this point. 7/23/2010 1:49:07 PM |

Since you're going to be there for bele chere, you might as well take part in some of the festivities. 7/23/2010 4:10:14 PM |

Sorry, didn't pay attention to who the original poster was. To all you non-cow worshiping people, hit up Burgermeisters. 7/23/2010 4:38:04 PM |

All good suggestions, obviously! Going this weekend? This weekend is Bele Chere and eating out downtown might be difficult or impossible. As will driving and parking and all that nonsense. But Bele Chere is pretty fun anyway 7/23/2010 4:59:27 PM |

yeah this weekend is Bele Chere. I live in asheville, and honestly it's about the worst weekend to come. A lot of people from all around come and just ruin what makes asheville so chill and relaxed. But if you have never been to Bele Chere it shouldn't be too bad for you. I second the suggestion of Horizons or the Sunset Terrace at The Grove Park, both are really nice spots. For just overall best food I have had, the admiral is for sure the best. It won't seem like shit from the outside, but it really is awesome. Asheville has great food for any particular type, you just have to know where to go. 7/23/2010 5:39:05 PM |

just got back.
friday night ate at Tupelo Honey. Pretty good food. I like goat cheese, so this wasn't a problem. It was a little more on the hippie side than i like in terms of atmosphere, but the food made up for it. The bartenders there suck, and the drinks we ordered were subpar. order beer there, because they can't fuck up opening a beer.
Saturday night we ate at The Market Place. Really liked the food there. The portions are small, but heavy on quality.
Other than that we walked around bel chere, and looked at the hippies. I think I saw every hippie stereotype that exists.
Also did a canopy tour (zipline) with navitat... was a lot of fun if you're into that sort of thing. 7/25/2010 8:53:03 PM |
