I'd like to hire a few bands instead of a DJ

actually an after-hours DJ would be acceptable but NOT a wedding DJ - someone spinning like a 1 hour dance set followed by a 1 hour down-tempo set or something

I'm lucky to know a lot of different kinds of performers

I didn't think we were having dancing...but somehow, even though it is a destination wedding with like 10 guests coming, we are still having it.
