^^ chit chat still may be nsfw without warning just like it always has. no one should assume that any thread in chit chat will be 100% sfw. just like it always has. you can make a nsfw thread with an appropriate title and post nearly whatever you want. you can even make nsfw posts in threads not labeled as such as long as it's conceivably on topic. if you're posting nsfw stuff just to be a dick to tww, you'll get suspended. there were an excessive number of SFW/NSFW parody threads in the last week and it was flooding chit chat with nonsense threads, so those are off limits for the time being.

i assume that's how it's back to being...it's obvious when someone is posting nsfw content just for the sake of posting it (i have done that on occasion, admittedly...but not in a long time and not frequently)

as far as i'm concerned, the only gray area is when it's a pun or play on words or euphemism or something...like if someone posts about arby's roast beef and somebody posts the cooter of some porn starlet named aubrey or something...i'd probably laugh and think it's harmless, but a mod might be pissed that he's not getting any and take it out on the person who posted the cooter

that's exactly the type of situation that the "may be nsfw without warning" is suited for. making a "suitable" nsfw post in an otherwise sfw thread happens pretty regularly in chit chat without anybody making a big deal about it. but every now and then somebody will show poor judgement and nsfw-ify a sfw thread in an unnecessary and pointless way. the way to remedy that usually imo is to ask them to recognize their fail of a post and edit it out, or otherwise call them out for being dense or whatever.

Here's where I'm confused why people have their jimmies rustled. It's ALWAYS been that way. qfred isn't saying we can't do this anymore, he just asked people to cool their jets with the over-the-top "trick" threads where making the user immediately few NSFW content was the sole purpose of the thread. Qfred isn't saying random NSFW content isn't allowed anymore, only that -at this point in time- people need to give it a fucking rest for a little while.
