Somebody do the math using those prices^^^ for cheese, and some bulk pasta. (comparing it to small boxes of Kraft) 8/24/2010 11:20:59 AM |

You'd need to know how much the cheese packet weighs 8/24/2010 11:22:53 AM |

after having the homemade mac and cheese at the Toot-N-Tell in garner i can no longer settle for boxed mac and cheese
unless it's made with cheese sauce instead of powder 8/24/2010 12:06:09 PM |

Errrrbody like de Toot-N-Tell!
Of course, when I toot, I don't have to tell anybody...because everybody in a 100ft radius gags and chokes...and the sound itself can be heard over in the next county.8/25/2010 1:39:06 PM |

Okay, I've got it...
...a single-serve or group-serve mac/cheese machine.
Bulk pasta and cheese powder is already loaded. All you do is come home, put in the butter and milk in their little compartments and press a button.
This would simultaneously satisfy Americans' desire for mac/cheese and useless (but totally kick-ass) gadgets. Furthermore, it would cut down on our obesity problem as we could make single servings and avoid eating giant mouthfuls of it off the spoon while we're mixing it.
The giant mouthfuls thing is a problem for me. Many times, I fix up a box, and by the time I'm ready to put some into my little bowl, I've already eaten a full serving or two during the mixing process...and I have to just put the rest in the fridge for later (late-night "snack").
You must be thinking, "But, Bridget, they already have single-serve pouches for the microwave." Yes, but those are much too costly. Furthermore, this would be a separate mac/cheese machine that would sit proudly on your kitchen counter--you could get it in different colors! Think about it!

in a couple of months trader joes will start selling their swiss beer cheese fondue in the little pouches again.
instead of making a bechamel sauce from scratch just boil your pasta, add a pouch of the fondue cheese, stir in parm or whatever cheese you like.....sprinkle with breadcrumbs........bake til bubbly

But hey, therein lies a GREAT idea...a quick-serve pasta cooker. Something pressurized that would do small batches in a third the time of regular pasta. With a sauce adder/mixer/injector thingy. I gotta get to work on this! 8/25/2010 2:01:48 PM |

Fuck yeah...it IS tasty.
LOL, and sooo bad for you. All those empty carbs and fat, and you add insult to injury by cutting up lips-peckers-and-assholes-in-a-tube and throw 'em in there.
But who's complaining? 8/25/2010 2:38:07 PM |
