good ol' american ingenuity will always find a way around the law. retrofit your CARB-compliant jugs to the old style nozzle and vent hole:

http://ezpourspout.com/ez-pour-products/all-products/fuel-jug-spout/

i'm gonna stock up on these before they get sued right out of business or they make these illegal too.

i hate the can I use for my lawnmower. I have to pull out the spout and ring and a whole host of other crap from inside of the can, and then manually screw them to the top just to pour out some gas. there is literally no way to keep gasoline from getting all over my hands and dripping everywhere. I just took everything out, and only leave the outer cap on. I just free pour it into my lawnmower with much less mess and hassle.

for $10.95 off amazon prime, you can fix that problem and have a jug with a spout and a vent hole just like we all used before 2009

I'm glad I'm not the only one that complains about the newer gas cans. I've been looking for a traditional one and I guess this is why I couldn't find one.

Liberal gas cans suck. And I end up spilling more gas with the new ones.

I thought this was the normal way to do it.

I always assumed the inverted spout with the cap on top was just for storage purposes.

That works if you have a decent funnel. It won't work if you want to put gas in a car unless you have a big enough funnel. Also need a funnel for the boat unless I want to pot gas all over the fiberglass.

The long and skinny here is we took a perfectly good product and regulated it until we have come up with ways to work around the regulations. I just think an American should be able to walk into Wal-Mart and buy a fucking plastic container with a vent and a spout and put gas in it and take it home and fill up his car, mower, string trimmer, or boat without a bunch of damn hassle.

^^from that site:

Quote :
"In the past 15 years, gas cans have been responsible for nearly a dozen deaths and 1,200 injuries."

I'd really love to see a statistic on how many of those deaths and injuries were due to idiots pouring gas on a fire. The vast majority of the frivolous lawsuits that put Blitz out of business were due to stupid kids pouring gas on a fire. Fuck them.

and 12 deaths in 15 years is pretty damn insignificant when you think about how many times individuals have safely used a regular old bunny-killer gas can to fill up a piece of equipment.

and the "flame arrestor" that they advocate on that site (which is just a piece of wire mesh) is included with the EZ Pour nozzle.

I can see me rolling around with 20 milk jugs in the back of my truck so I can fill up my boat.

But, alas, even a milk jug doesn't have a vent hole.

Thank you for posting the ez-pour. I have 4 cans, bought 2 for trials and if they work well I'll get 2 more. For the vent, do I end up drilling into the can to install it?

$100 gas can....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-5-gallon-vented-vintage-in-style-Never-USED-gas-can-Type-briggs-Stratton/261347886634?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DABA.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3Dd496cdab3c164f8480e81abaae806457%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D271661441670

I read the directions on my new can. I have to twist the nozzle, pump it, twist it some more until it clicks and it should then pour properly....

I like to take at least 20 gallons of ethanol free with me when I head up for a week of fishing on the Bay River. Even then, I have to head into town about halfway through the week to fill them back up.

And you can't have enough gas on-hand when a hurricane is on the way. I've got three 5 gallon racing fuel "utility jugs" now. I've got a 1 gallon and a 2.5 gallon for 2-cycle fuel. I put an EZ Pour kit on the 2.5 gal. The 1 gal has the lever-style valve with the little plastic lock ripped out. It actually works pretty good now and the lack of a vent isn't a big deal because I'm usually just putting a few cups of gas into a trimmer, blower, chainsaw, etc. I have two more EZ Pour kits now. One is the high flow version that won't fit in the filler neck of a passenger vehicle. I plan to get a 5 gal jug for it and see how it does on the boat. The other is a standard EZ Pour kit and it will go on another 5 gal jug. I'm going to try those out and possibly add some more. I will at least buy a handful of extra kits in case they quit making them.

I punted a CARB compliant 5 gal jug into the woods when I lived in Roxboro because I got so damn frustrated with it. Wish I had held onto it I guess

yeah, that's where I got mine. They're a dollar cheaper at Tractor Supply, I think, but it saved me a trip to Rocky Point, NC.

If I was stupid rich, I'd buy a damn tractor trailer load of these things and roll around handing them out like candy off a firetruck in a parade.

freaking love it. converted a 5 gallon and a 2.5 gallon with the "water" spouts. a 1/2" spade bit made putting the vent in as easy as can be.

the best part is not getting goddamn gas all over my hands like the old ones required whenever I had to pull the spout out.

not only that, but I feel like a pimp when I fill them up and see some poor schmuck filling his "safety" can. I've already told 3 people where to get them when asked about them at a gas station.

best $25 I've spent on my outdoor accessories.
