I always thought it was funny that the GTI was the most masculine version of that chassis but in MKIV models the jetta had the most menacing front end.

Agreed. However, I could see myself perhaps driving the Beetle R over the Golf GTI. It manages to look aggressive and funky/sexy at the same time (click below). (it is a concept, but pretty much headed for production)
