Quote : | "The menu for the 2010 N.C. State Fair was unveiled Monday, and among the new offerings is a Krispy Kreme hamburger, which is a burger between two glazed doughnuts. Cheese and bacon are optional.
There’s a funnel cake named chocolate obssession and Kool-Aid pickles, also known as Koolickles. The pickles are soaked in a combination of the sugary drink mix and pickle brine.
For fairgoers whose crave anything battered and dipped into a bubbling basket of oil, the menu has deep-fried honey buns, Chips Ahoy cookies, chocolate pie, Frito pie and bacon and cheese mashed potato bites. The one-pound hot dog comes as is.
Dessert includes a frozen chocolate-covered Twinkie. To wash it all down, try the pineapple lemonade." |

i like the salty food. i like the corn on the cob, bbq, ribbon fries, fried okra (and other veggies), hot wisconsin cheese, etc, etc
i also like the frozen bananas on a stick and caramel apples (for the sweet stuff)...not really into funnel cake or any of the deep fried twinkie type stuff

ITT I'm a fatass.
Here's what me and my girlfriend shared:
1) McBride's Smoked Turkey Leg (delicious) 2) Bacon and Cheese Fried Mashed Potato Bites (awful, awful horseshit) & Lemonade (I couldn't find where the Pineapple Lemonade was) 3) Hill's Roasted Corn w/ Butter (delicious) 4) Kiwanis Ham Biscuit (first time, ham was good, biscuit bland) 5) Dozen Cinnamon Mini Doughnuts (first time, best thing ever) 6) Charlie Barefoot & Sons Cheese Steak (always good) 7) Hot Wisconsin Cheese Cheddar-Nuggets w/ Ranch (first time, was good) 8) (Log Cabin Looking Place) Chocolate Eclair and Hot Chocolate (also awesome)
So the only things I kinda wanted that I didn't find was the Pineapple Lemonade, so if I go back on Hunger Relief night I'll look for that. I was interested in the Gourmet Funnel Cakes but girlfriend doesn't like funnel cake and I've never been that crazy about them either, so we skipped them. The only major disappointment was the bacon and cheese mashed potato bites. It's mashed potatoes with a FEW bacon bits, deep fried, and served with nacho-cheese dipping sauce. You can't taste the bacon, and it just tastes weird. 10/16/2010 12:42:31 AM

pickles were gross. Here's what my group ate:
smoked turkey leg fries lemonade fried oreo fried Reese's peanut butter cup Luther burger barbecue sandwich catfish sandwich cinnamon-sugar mini doughnuts sweet tea deep fried pecan pie Old fashioned cherry soda, orange soda, and cherry root beer roasted sweet corn deep fried moon pie kool aid pickle chocolate covered "pig licker" bacon dill pickle tiger butter apple maple cotton candy blooming onion
Deep fried pecan pie was the best. "Koolickles" were the worst. The Luther was surprisingly pleasant and tasted sort of like those sausage/pancake dogs. 10/17/2010 10:23:26 PM

I think Hills Corn of the Cob was the best corn I had there, my friends and I each bought a different ear from each place and compared and we found Hills to be the best (it is over by waterfall with huge ear of corn on top) 10/17/2010 10:35:33 PM

Fried PB and Banana was delicious...had some sort of cinnamon sugar on top of the bread as well
If you come in by Dorton Arena, the stand I went to for it is to the left a little ways...I think if you type in peanut butter and banana it comes up on the Fair website

the butcher brothers booth (i think that's what it is across from the nc state ice cream) sells "souvenir" cups for $5, but it also says refills ("ours or theirs") are $1
we took two 32oz nalgenes and 1 32oz "theirs" lemonade cup to them and they filled them with whatever for $1
