"fix-it" ticket. Go renew your registration (new law also requires vehicle inspection within 90 days of renewing registration). Take it down to the courthouse, either on your court date, or you can call down there and see if they'll just let you drop by one day (I've done this before, but in Craven County...might vary by location). Show 'em the new registration, and the ticket disappears.

I just got rid of my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Drove it for almost eleven years, original engine and transmission. All I ever did service wise was oil changes every 3k because it burned oil. It was a great car but it was getting to the point where I didn't want to put any money into it or turn any wrenches. Needed a heater core, the bearings in the power steering pump were rattling, and it probably would need new tires in the next year. Bought a 2011 AWD Fusion Sport on Monday and traded in the Jeep. It was a walk down memory lane clearing out stuff in the arm rest from high school.

EMCE- I have a real, serious question.

You got pulled over.

You are black.

You did NOT get a ticket?

...so what, am I just supposed to suddenly think cops aren't racist or something?

I mean, let's get real. Stereotypes aren't created with a single post on an arbitrary innernet forum.

Come to think of it, the last time I was pulled over was over 10 years ago.

There seems to be a pattern here.

BTTT because merbig swore my car was going to fall apart. It's been over 2 years, and I haven't had to replace my engine. Everything is running swimmingly, broseph.

I was pulled the day before yesterday. He was awesome.

I knew how fast I was going (50), but I thought that I was in a 45 mph zone. Doh! The road goes from 45 to 35 back to 45 and he pulled me in the section that was 35. He came back telling me "I like to be a fair cop. The lady before you was doing the same thing and she was on the way to the doctor's office with her kid, so I'm going to tell you just like I told her, Slow it down."

The whole thing just slowed me down by 5 minutes.

Of the 5 or so times I've been pulled in a four-wheeled vehicle for speeding I've gotten let off once. Been pulled almost twice that many times for speeding on my bike, only actually ticketed once. Was always curious about that disparity; ended up shooting the shit with one of the last cops to pull me on my bike and decided to ask him about it. He laughed and said "well honestly when I see a guy that looks like you hauling like that I'm just making sure that the bike isn't hot and that he doesn't have any warrants."

I'm still not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not

You are capable of going back and reading page 1, just as well as I. Stop asking silly questions.

So if you're not illiterate, why are you making mention that your jeep hasn't had any problems?

Go grab your posts from the first page. Might as well grab walkmanfades' posts too, to capture the whole conversation. Post them here. Then ask your silly question again.

The small conversation between walkmanfades and I is irrelevant as I was not speaking of your engine being replaced in 2 years, but rather stating that if you sink large sums of money to keep something running, at the end of his specified deadline it could still be considered in "top operating" condition. My statement wasn't that you would have to change the engine after 2 years, which should be obvious, but rather that within 3 years you will have a failure of some kind due to Jeeps' poor design.

Now, has it been 3 years yet? Nope. So what's your point?
Besides, I don't expect you to be honest either.

But the fact is people don't buy Jeeps for their reliability. People have already had problems with the AC not working and the fog lamps fucking up with less than 35k miles.

OIC. So when you make far- out claim, and are challenged on it, your response is to make some random non-related statement about having to replace an engine in an imaginary car in 2 years.
Gotcha.

Got pulled a few months ago around 3am coming home from work. Cop thought I was drunk, and I didn't even have my license on me. I explained to him that I just received a new one recently and screwed up forgetting to put the new one in the wallet.

He made me do all the drunk tests and such but never pulled out a breathalyzer, let me go saying that "this could have been one of the worst nights of your life. Think about it next time."

I thought that was pretty cool, but I couldn't figure out why he let me go either. I wanted to find him to thank him, but I didn't know how to look for him.

Well, how about you read what I wrote?

See the word IF? It's a hypothetical statement. See the word I? That means I'm not talking about your car, dumb ass. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at you being a complete retard, you did buy a Jeep.

It's not a far out claim that your car is an unreliable piece of shit that will give you problems within 3 years, as was my statement. What exactly are you contesting? That you haven't changed the engine within 2 years?

If the cop was doing his job well, then you were pulled over for a valid infringement, and if you were also not being a bad driver, then that could imply that its a shitty law. But why would the cop be enforcing a shitty law? Maybe he's a shitty cop.
