Hooray!

Ive been there maybe a total of 7 or 8 times, and only paid for my meal 2 of those times. I always bought the chicken parm(which was good), eggplant parm(very good), never had their pizza so cant comment on that, and I can w/out a doubt say that all the times Ive gone there I have had exceptional service. Id say its def. better then the local Olive Garden, and def. pricier than an Olive garden, but again my food was paid for most of the time and the food was good, so no complaints here. I actually prefer the food (I went when the old Amadeos family ran the place(between '98-'06), have no clue what the joint is like now, but my past experiences were very good!

Last time I went we ordered an extra large pizza with lots of additional toppings. It was extremely expensive because they charged like $2 (or more, can't remember) per additional topping. We were expecting a loaded pizza but they brought out a pizza that had like 4 or 5 pieces of each topping. 5 pepperoni, 5 italian sausage, etc. It was mostly cheese. We should have just refused the thing and left. Obviously I haven't been back.[Edited on November 4, 2010 at 12:43 PM. Reason : -]

It's an institution. I enjoy going a few times a year and browsing all the memorabilia. It's fine as far as Italian food goes. Better than Olive Garden!

wow didn't know aol emails still existed
3/18/2026 9:52:29 AM
my problem is that i don't go there for the foodi go there for the physical, decades-old interior collage that is the BUILDING
3/18/2026 11:06:57 AM
Buildings CAN be moved. . .
3/18/2026 11:09:02 AM
^^^it's the same one they've had since their start, 60+years ago.

Oh man I’m gonna miss that one booth I sat in the time I was overcharged for bad food
3/18/2026 11:24:38 AM
I don't get the complaints of "over-priced". It's always seemed like average prices to me. Maybe yall are just cheap and used to eating at Hunt Brothers pizza?

Eh i think putting all that in a new building will still completely change the vibe.My guess is they think they can make a nice chunk of change selling that property and that's the main reason behind this. Sad to see what will be the inevitable destruction of an institution.]

Amedeos not on Western Blvd is not Amedeos.
3/18/2026 2:05:31 PM
Like I said, it'll suck if it moves, and of course it wouldn't be the same vibe. But I'd rather it do that than just shut-down completely. Mainly because of the memorobilia. They have a TON of stuff.
3/18/2026 2:09:02 PM
Reading a little more about this, definitely seems like the owners are choosing a quick buck over the history/tradition of the restaurant. Sad, but not surprising considering they have no actual connection to the area/history/what have you. It's solely about profit for them. Classic ECU grad ruining everything.

They are selling the place for $$$ and renting out a unit at the Food Lion strip mall across the street[Edited on March 18, 2026 at 8:49 PM. Reason : a]

Seems legit
3/18/2026 8:29:31 PM
Trying to think of other potential locations that might fit the vibe, maybe somewhere on Hillsborough? The Raising Canes spot would have been an ideal location.
3/19/2026 11:09:28 AM
i think David's/Darryl's is where they should moveit's old, has lots of NC State history and their stuff would look awesome in therecons: parking is gonna be crazy insane when it's gameday and PR is bumping toounlike that burger place that just closed, i think PR and Amedeos would be fine next to each other... Darryl's and PR existed for decades next to each other
3/19/2026 12:58:44 PM
Pros: moving to a new location allows the tons of memorabilia to be dusted
3/19/2026 2:11:19 PM
PR dusting every can in the joint about 3 years ago was kind of amazing and the color in that place totally went up a notch!

marko had a good idea, do that

Sushi 9 used to be Greek Fiesta and before that it was Papa Lou's. Side note: Feels like it's only a matter of time before someone bulldozes Mission Valley and turns it into apartments.

^that's not right.Current Popeye's used to be Greek Fiesta, which used to be Papa Lou's, which used to be Miami Subs.Sushi 9 is another building. It was demolished and rebuilt about a decade ago (both Sushi 9). Before that it was Ten Ten Chinese restaurant. Before that it was Golden Corral.https://abc11.com/post/sushi-nine-norovirus-wake-county-public-health/14184134/[Edited on March 21, 2026 at 10:14 AM. Reason : fd]
