we have that system for people over 65 in the US now, called medicare... and its going bankrupt. Soon(relatively) it will be hard to find a doctor who takes it.

The Australian system isn't going bankrupt and covers everyone in Australia. Maybe we should take a look at what they're doing correctly and learn from them.

The problem is that Australia has a population of roughly 27 million people, while the U.S. has just over 307 million. While their system may be "working" in a sense, it's based upon a completely different population model.

There are probably some positives we can take from their operation, but the math is completely different when you're handling a populace roughly 11 times the size of theirs.

I think this ad helped her win. Not in the conventional way, I mean sure it fired up some of the really far righters more than normal, and yeah when it comes down to 1,600 votes every vote counts. But this ad put her on the national tea partys radar and got her a good chunk of out of state money, which does really count when its that close... less than 1%

She sat on the board of the Betsy Johnson Hospital Foundation....probably one of the worst hospitals in the state (hope no one here is a fan) FYI: If you need medical treatment in Harnett County and amber lamps wants to take you to "The Morgue" (that is what locals call it because so many people have sat in the waiting room and died) get in your vehicle and drive to Johnson Memorial in Smithfield unless it is life or death. Betsy Johnson is currently blocking another hospital from moving in even though they cant cope with the current volume of patients. If she goes Dick Cheney and shoots someone with one of her beloved guns she'll have to use her medical experience to treat them herself.

Ellmers also affiliates herself with Cape Fear Christian Academy and sends her son there. I know several people that attended and I've yet to hear anything good about it. Generally speaking, the two extremes that enroll there are the students who arent allowed to watch TV or listen to the radio because the world is a bad place and the students who have parents rich enough to send them there when they get expelled from public schools for doing drugs. Disclaimer: its been a few years since I heard anything about CFCA.
